    Sammanfattning : Information technology evidence consists of a mix of representations of various applications of digital electronic equipment, and can be brought to the fore in all contexts that result in legal decisions. The occurrence of such evidence in legal proceedings, and other legal decision-making, is a phenomenon previously not researched within legal science in Sweden. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The role of forensic epidemiology in evidence-based forensic medical practice

    Författare :Michael Freeman; Anders Eriksson; Maurice Zeegers; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; forensic epidemiology; forensic medicine; probability; traffic crash; autopsy; logistic regression; Bayes´law; Forensic Medicine; rättsmedicin; Forensic Medicine; rättsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives This thesis is based on 4 papers that were all written with the same intent, which was to describe and demonstrate how epidemiologic concepts and data can serve as a basis for improved validity of probabilistic conclusions in forensic medicine (FM). Conclusions based on probability are common in FM, and the validity of probabilistic conclusions is dependant on their foundation, which is often no more than personal experience. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Sensitive Forensic DNA Analysis : Application of Pyrosequencing and Real-time PCR Quantification

    Författare :Hanna Andréasson; Marie Allen; Ulf Gyllensten; Pål Nyrén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; forensic; sensitive DNA analysis; DNA quantification; mtDNA; Real-time PCR; Pyrosequencing; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The field of forensic genetics is growing fast and the development and optimisation of more sensitive, faster and more discriminating forensic DNA analysis methods is highly important. In this thesis, an evaluation of the use of novel DNA technologies and the development of specific applications for use in forensic casework investigations are presented. LÄS MER

  4. 4. An epidemiological perspective on heart and lung weight in cardiac and intoxication deaths

    Författare :Torfinn Beer; Carl Johan Wingren; Anders Eriksson; Britt-Marie Stålnacke; Kimberly Molina; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heart weight; lung weight; organ weight; autopsy; forensic pathology; Bayesian analysis; cardiac hypertrophy; fatal intoxication; Forensic Medicine; rättsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of a medico-legal autopsy is to determine the cause and manner of death. A forensic pathologist makes assessments of this using several sources of information, one of which is the discrepancy between measured organ weight and reference values. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Teenager fatalities : epidemiology and implications for prevention

    Författare :Lars Johansson; Anders Eriksson; Leif Svanström; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : A significant number of teenagers are killed each year by unintentional or intentional injuries. A teenager is in a vulnerable phase of her/his life, going from being a child to adult. This transition often includes testing the limits of their capabilities, which can include, e.g. LÄS MER
