  1. 16. Mental Stress and Endothelium-Dependent Vasodilation

    Författare :Kristina Johansson; Sverker Jern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Mental stress; endothelium; adrenoceptor blockade; catecholamine; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : The endothelium plays an important part in blood flow regulation by producing the vasodilatory substance nitric oxide (NO). Various studies have shown that commonly accepted risk factors for coronary heart disease, such as hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, smoking and mental stress impair endothelium-derived vasodilation by the NO-pathway. 2. 17. Effects of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker (AT₁ receptor blocker) candesartan cilexetil on systemic and renal haemodynamics in hypertensive patients

    Författare :Katarina Fridman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Established primary hypertension is primarily characterised by elevated peripheral resistance and an increase in renal vascular resistance. Antagonism of angiotensin II may be a particularly relevant intervention in this condition, as angiotensin II is known to act both as a powerful vasoconstrictor and as a stimulus to vascular hyperthrophy. 3. 18. Mediterranean inspired diet and cardiovascular health. Experimental and clinical studies

    Författare :Anneli Ambring; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases cause the majority of morbidity and mortality in the western countries. Inadjunct, the worldwide prevalence of overweight and obesity is a growing problem not onlyamong adults but also among children and adolescents. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Experimental studies of the regulations of synthesis and release of tissue-type plasminogen activator from vascular endothelium

    Författare :Lena Selin Sjögren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tissue-type plasminogen activator; endothelium; fluid mechanical forces; shear stress; pressure; immunohistochemistry; gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : The fibrinolytic system has several important functions and one crucial function is the prevention and removal of fibrin deposits in blood vessels. Tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) plays a key role in this process, and in vitro data suggest that an acute release of t-PA is induced as a thromboprotective response whenever clotting mechanisms are initiated. 5. 20. Sampling depth in Laser Doppler flowmetry

    Författare :Anneli Jakobsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The influence of probe design on the measuring depth in laser Doppler flowmetry using a 632.8 nm light source has been investigated by in vivo models and Monte Carlo simulations. Five different probe configurations were used to measure perfusion in feline intestine to which a constant blood flow was applied. LÄS MER
