  1. 1. Basic and translational studies of follicular thyroid neoplasia

    Författare :Theodoros Foukakis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Follicular thyroid cancer; follicular thyroid adenoma; PAX8-PPARgamma; PPARgamma; PTEN; RAS; RASSF1A; NORE1A; TERT; quantitative RT-PCR; microarray; cancer biomarker;

    Sammanfattning : Thyroid tumors occur frequently in the general population and although the majority represents benign follicular adenomas (FTA), thyroid cancer constitutes 1% of all malignancies worldwide. Among the differentiated cancers, three main types are recognized, including the papillary and follicular forms (PTC and FTC) that originate from the follicular thyrocytes, and the medullary carcinoma that arises from the C-cells. 2. 2. Telomerase related studies in thyroid cancer

    Författare :Martin Harper Hysek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Follicular thyroid neoplasms are diagnostically challenging. On histologic evaluation, it can be difficult, resource-consuming, and observer-dependent to pinpoint the exact location of capsular or vascular invasion. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Molecular aspects of post-Chornobyl and sporadic papillary thyroid carcinoma

    Författare :Andrii Dinets; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :papillary thyroid carcinoma;

    Sammanfattning : Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) exhibits various molecular abnormalities, both when sporadic and radiation-related. PTC is still diagnosed in adult individuals who were younger than 18 years at the time of the Chornobyl accident in 1986 and lived within the contaminated area. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genetic and molecular characterization of follicular thyroid tumors : diagnostic and prognostic aspects

    Författare :Johan Paulsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) is the second most common thyroid malignancy and it sometimes metastasize to lungs and bone. A substantial subset of these tumors lacks an identified driver event and no well-established prognostic and diagnostic markers exist. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Behind the scenes of thyroid tumors : underlying genetic mechanisms

    Författare :Jia Jing Lee; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Familial medullary thyroid cancer; follicular thyroid cancer; anaplastic thyroid cancer; CCND1; UBCH10; p16; RASSF1A; BRAF; array-CGH; tumor progression; global methylation; LINE-1; LUMA;

    Sammanfattning : Thyroid cancer is the most frequently observed malignancy involving endocrine tissues. This group of diseases is also the major cause of death related to neoplasia of the endocrine system. Tumors in the thyroid gland are common in the general population and the majority represents benign follicular adenoma (FTA). LÄS MER
