1. Hubble Space Telescope Spectroscopy of Eta Carinae and Chi Lupi
Sammanfattning : Eta Carinae is a super-massive, super-luminous star. It is surrounded by a bipolar nebula, the "Homunculus", and several blobs of ejected gas which are the source of a complex emission-line spectrum. LÄS MER
2. Anomalous Spectral Lines in Space and Laboratory Plasmas - Studies with HST and CRYRING
Sammanfattning : Eta Carinae is one of the most massive and luminous stars in the Galaxy. A huge bipolar nebula and an equatorial disk give the object a characteristic shape. Close to the star there are gas clouds, which emit intriguing emission line spectra. LÄS MER
3. Gas phase molecular relaxation probed by synchrotron radiation experiments
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents experimental studies of gas phasemolecular relaxation after excitation with synchrotron photonsin the 15-35 eV and in the 70-350 eV regions. In the 15-35 eV region, molecular relaxation by neutraldissociation processes and nonFranck-Condon effects in N2 and O2 molecules have beenstudied by means of dispersed fluorescence and photoelectronspectroscopy experimental techniques, respectively. 4. Fluorescence Properties of Quantum Dots and Their Utilization in Bioimaging
Sammanfattning : Quantum dots (QDs), especially colloidal semiconductor QDs, possess properties including high quantum yields, narrow fluorescence spectra, broad absorption and excellent photostability, making them extremely powerful in bioimaging. In this thesis, we studied the fluorescence properties of QDs and attempted multiple ways to boost applications of QDs in bioimaging field. LÄS MER
5. Electronic Energy Transfer within Asymmetric Pairs of Fluorophores: Partial Donor-Donor Energy Migration (PDDEM)
Sammanfattning : A kinetic model of electronic energy migration within pairs of photophysically non-identical fluorophores has been developed. The model applies to fluorescent groups that exhibit different photophysical and spectral properties when attached to different positions in a macromolecule. LÄS MER
