1. Central retinal vein occlusion: Cetrain risk factors, electroretinography and an experimental treatment model
Sammanfattning : The presence of activated protein C resistance, plasma hyperhomocysteinemia and the MTHFR C677T mutation in patients with central retinal vein occlusion were investigated and compared to a control group. Activated protein C resistance was overrepresented in the group of patients less than 50 years of age whereas this was not the case in patients more than 50 years of age. LÄS MER
2. Retinal Vein Occlusion A clinical study of electrophysiology, certain prognostic factors and treatment
Sammanfattning : The influence of the factor V Leiden mutation on the development of neovascular complications in central retinal vein occlusion was studied. The presence of the mutation was found to enhance the risk of developing neovascular complications almost threefold compared to in patients without the mutation. LÄS MER
3. Aspects of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in Healthy Eyes and Eyes with Retinal Diseases
Sammanfattning : Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a technique in which cross-sectional images from intraocular tissue can be obtained. The quantitative and qualitative examinations are used for evaluating retinal diseases. LÄS MER
4. Effects of Ischaemia on the Neuroretina and Retinal Blood Vessels
Sammanfattning : Identification of the intracellular signal transduction pathways activated in retinal ischaemia may be important in revealing novel pharmacological targets. The retinal blood vessels are key organs in circulatory failure, and in this work the retinal vasculature was therefore examined separately from the neuroretina. LÄS MER
5. Optical spectroscopy and fluorescence imaging for cancer diagnostics
Sammanfattning : This work presents optical methods for diagnosing cancer. A complementary method for diagnosing eye cancer was investigated using a technique developed within this work named transscleral optical spectroscopy (TOS). LÄS MER
