1. Particle image velocimetry in practice
Sammanfattning : Experimental fluid mechanics has for a long time been used to visualize flow phenomenon. An early pioneer was Ludwig Prandtl who used aluminum particles in water flumes to describe the flow in a qualitative manner. In line with the rapid development of Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD, the need for new validation tools has increased. LÄS MER
2. Thirst in Patients with Heart Failure : Description of thirst dimensions and associated factors with thirst
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Nurses and other health care professionals meet patients with heart failure (HF) who report they are thirsty. Thirst is described by the patients as a concern, and it is distressing. LÄS MER
3. A numerical study of two-fluid models for dispersed two-phase flow
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the two-fluid (Eulerian/Eulerian) formulation for dispersed two-phase flow is considered. Closure laws are needed for this type of models. We investigate both empirically based relations, which we refer to as a nongranular model, and relations obtained from kinetic theory of dense gases, which we refer to as a granular model. LÄS MER
4. Investigation of Rear-Mounted Cooling Module Installations for Heavy Vehicles
Sammanfattning : Due to stricter emissions legislations and increasing fuel prices vehicle efficiency must be improved. A trend that has been seen during recent years is increased engine power for many vehicle segments. Different exhaust gas after-treatment systems have also been introduced to be able to meet the emission demands. LÄS MER
5. On Gas Dynamics of Exhaust Valves
Sammanfattning : With increasing effects of global warming, efforts are made to make transportationin general more fuel efficient. When it comes to internal combustion engines, the most common way to improve fuel efficiency is through ‘downsizing’. Downsizingmeans that a smaller engine (with lower losses and less weight) performsthe task of a larger engine. LÄS MER
