  1. 1. Excessive Fluid Overload Among Haemodialysis Patients : Prevalence, Individual Characteristics and Self-regulation of Fluid Intake

    Författare :Magnus Lindberg; Per Lindberg; Björn Wikström; Regina Wredling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Behavioural medicine; fluid overload; adherence; haemodialysis; self-efficacy; attentional style; depressive symptomatology; cluster analysis; tailored treatment; quasi-experimental single-case design; Fluid Intake Appraisal Inventory FIAI ; renal nursing; Kidney diseases; Njursjukdomar; Caring sciences; Vårdvetenskap; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Caring Sciences; Vårdvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is comprised of four studies and concerns haemodialysis patients’ confidence in being able to manage fluid intake between treatment sessions, and whether the fluid intake is influenced by certain modifiable characteristics of the persons in question. The overall aim was to study aspects of excessive fluid overload and haemodialysis patients’ self-regulation of fluid allotment from a bio-psychosocial and behavioural medicine perspective. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling of IC-Engine Intake Noise

    Författare :Magnus Knutsson; Mats Åbom; Yves Auregán; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IC-engine; intake noise; gas dynamics; linear source data; frequency domain; 2-port; losses; air cleaner unit; filter paper; flow; FEM; BEM; charge air cooler; narrow tube; Acoustics; Akustik;

    Sammanfattning : Shorter product development cycles, densely packed engine compartments and intensified noiselegislation increase the need for accurate predictions of IC-engine air intake noise at earlystages. The urgent focus on the increasing CO2 emissions and the efficiency of IC-engines, aswell as new techniques such as homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) mightworsen the noise situation. 3. 3. Aspects of nutrition in geriatric patients - Especially dietary assessment, intake and requirements

    Författare :Mats Persson Lintrup; Geriatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Validity.; Total energy expenditure; Reproducibility; Malnutrition; Geriatric patients; Fluid intake; Energy requirements; Doubly labelled water; Diet records; Aged; Dietary intake; Nutrition; Näringslära; Social medicine; Socialmedicin; samhällsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to develop and test the feasibility of a dietary record routine, where nursing staff assess the patient’s food and fluid intake based on standardised portion sizes and household measurements. The energy intake (EI) was studied with a dietary record in 61 geriatric patients. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Numerical Investigation of Internal Combustion Engine Related Flows

    Författare :Martin Söder; Laszlo Fuchs; Martin Tunér; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; LES; Engine; Intake; Compression;

    Sammanfattning : Internal combustion engines has been used for more than 100 years. The use of the abundant energy supply stored as hydrocarbon fueled unprecedented economic growth. The use of hydrocarbons increased the work output of human labor significantly, thus increasing the economy and prosperity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Creation and destruction of in-cylinder flows : Large eddy simulations of the intake and the compression strokes

    Författare :Martin Söder; Laszlo Fuchs; Angelo Onorati; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Swirl; Tumble; Compression; Engine; LES; CFD; engine turbulence; engine simulations; intake flow structures; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to increase engine efficiency by studying the flow structures created in an engine cylinder during the intake phase and the effect of the subsequent compression.The invention of the combustion engine has enabled three centuries of economic growth fueled by energy stored as hydrocarbons.
