1. Freshwater, density gradients and biological processes in cold, brackish seas : aspects of the biogeophysical fluid dynamics characterising the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : The dominant component in the ocean water is freshwater. In this thesis its mixing and the freshwater-induced dynamics are discussed, with cold, brackish basins such as the Baltic Sea especially in mind. A mathematical framework is derived to allow for a consistent way of adding freshwater effects to the governing equations. LÄS MER
2. Cardiovascular fluid dynamics : methods for flow and pressure field analysis from magnetic resonance imaging
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular blood flow is highly complex and incompletely understood. Blood flow patterns are expected to influence the opening and closing of normal and prosthetic heart valves, the efficiency of cardiac filling and ejection, and the resistance to thrombus formation within the heart. 3. Permeability of non-crimp fabrics : a computational fluid dynamics approach
Sammanfattning : In the present market for manufacturing of high performance structural parts for various applications such as aerospace, transportation, infrastructure, marine, sports and recreation, low weight, high performance composites are preferable. Non-Crimp Fabrics (NCFs) are often used for such applications due to its high mechanical properties and often cost effective production. LÄS MER
4. Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Fluid Lipid Membranes
Sammanfattning : Lipid molecules form thin biological membranes that envelop all living cells, and behave as two-dimensional liquid sheets immersed in bulk water. The interactions of such biomembranes with their environment lay the foundation of a plethora of biological processes rooted in the mesoscopic domain - length scales of 1-1000 nm and time scales of 1-1000 ns. 5. Rigid Body Ship Dynamics
Sammanfattning : It is common today that operational data is recorded onboard ships within the Internet of Ships (IoS) paradigm. This enables the possibility to build ship digital twins as digital copies of the real ships. Predicting the ship’s motions with ship dynamics could be an important sub-component of these ship digital twins. LÄS MER
