21. Unsteady Numerical Simulations of Flow around Heavy Vehicles, Trains and Passenger Cars
Sammanfattning : In this thesis several simulations have been carried out aimed at improving the knowledgeof vehicle aerodynamics and improving the flow around vehicles with respect to theaerodynamic drag. Four flows around different simplified vehicles have been considered. LÄS MER
22. Dynamics of Torsional and Axial Vibrations in Indexable Drills
Sammanfattning : Drilling is widely used in manufacturing of products which need holes, for example for fluid channels, screws or pins. Depending on application, workpiece material, cutting parameters and economic considerations, different types of drills are employed. Indexable insert drills are types of drills which facilitate inserts to make holes. LÄS MER
23. Modeling and numerical simulation of hydro power flows
Sammanfattning : This work is about high precision numerical water flow simulations of hydro power related applications, and especially draft tube flows. Because of the accuracy requirements for these types of simulations (the efficiency of a hydro power turbine can be over 90%), the work has been devided into several steps; verification, validation and modeling. 24. Modeling of Pulverised Wood Flames
Sammanfattning : The aim of the current work was at development and validation of modeling tools for simulation of pulverised wood flames in furnaces and study how different factors influence on such flames. The numerical model involves different sub-models for the physo-chemical processes, such as, two-phase flow motion, drying, devolatilization and shrinkage of particles, the formation and oxidation of volatile, tar and char, turbulence-chemistry interaction, turbulence-radiation interaction, etc. LÄS MER
25. Modeling and simulation of rotary bell spray atomizers in automotive paint shops
Sammanfattning : The paint and surface treatment processes in automotive paint shops are characterized by multiphase and free surface flows, multiphysics interactions, multiscale phenomena, and large moving geometries. The current version of the software for simulation of spray painting developed at the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre relies on measurements of droplet size distributions and velocity profiles below the applicator that can be used as input to the simulations.
