21. On microchannel acoustophoresis - Experimental considerations and life science applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents experimental studies of microchannel acoustophoresis, a technique for manipulation of microscopic objects in suspension by means of acoustic radiation forces induced by ultrasonic standing wave fields. By arranging an acoustic resonance across the width of a microchannel, the path of individual cells or microparticles can be deflected orthogonally to the fluid flow. LÄS MER
22. Multimethod aerodynamic research of engine-realistic turbine rear structures
Sammanfattning : Despite the significant advancements in aircraft engine technology over the past years, the aerodynamics of engine-realistic turbine rear structures (TRS) remain largely unexplored. The TRS, a structural and aerodynamic component situated downstream of the low-pressure turbine (LPT), plays a pivotal role in engine aerodynamic performance, deswirling the LPT flow to maximize the engine thrust. 23. Application of Uncertainty Quantification Techniques to Studies of Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flows
Sammanfattning : Wall-bounded turbulent flows occur in many engineering applications. The quantities of interest (QoIs) of these flows can be accurately obtained through experimental measurements and scale-resolving numerical approaches, such as large eddy simulation (LES). LÄS MER
24. On Nonlinear Acoustics in Contrast Echocardiography
Sammanfattning : Ultrasound is one of the most commonly used noninvasive medical imaging techniques. Ultrasound contrast agents (UCA), consisting of encapsulated gas-filled microbubbles, have shown to increase the diagnostic precision in selected low echogenic patients. LÄS MER
25. On focusing of strong shock waves
Sammanfattning : Focusing of strong shock waves in a gas-filled thin test section with various forms of the reflector boundary is investigated. The test section is mounted at the end of the horizontal co-axial shock tube. Two different methods to produce shock waves of various forms are implemented. LÄS MER
