1. Wings, turbulent boundary layers and flow separation
Sammanfattning : The present doctoral thesis investigates the turbulent flow developing around wing sections, focusing on the impact of adverse-pressure-gradient (APG) conditions on turbulent boundary layers (TBLs) and the physics of flow separation. Both experimental and numerical methods are employed to generate high-fidelity data sets and provide an in-depth analysis of the flow. LÄS MER
2. Convex multicommodity flow problems : a bidual approach
Sammanfattning : The topic of this dissertation, within the subfield of mathematics known as optimization, is the development of a new dual ascent method for convex multicommodity flow problems. Convex multicommodity flow problems arize in many different routing problems such as the design of packet switched computer networks and the computation of traffic network equilibria. LÄS MER
3. Runge–Kutta Time Step Selection for Flow Problems
Sammanfattning : Optimality is studied for Runge-Kutta iteration for solving steady-state and time dependent flow problems. For the former type an algorithm for determining locally optimal time steps is developed, based on the fact that the squared norm of the residual produced by an m-stage scheme is a 2m-degree polynomial, the coefficients of which can be computed from scalar products of Krylov subspace vectors. 4. Optimization in Continuum Flow Problems
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this dissertation was carried out at the Division ofMechanics, Department of Management and Engineering at Link¨oping University, between 2003 and 2008. It was supervised by Prof. LÄS MER
5. Numerical investigation of the flow and instabilities at part-load and speed-no-load in an axial turbine
Sammanfattning : Global renewable energy requirements rapidly increase with the transition to a fossil-free society. As a result, intermittent energy resources, such as wind- and solar power, have become increasingly popular. However, their energy production varies over time, both in the short- and long term.
