  1. 1. Trainee teacher identities in the discourses of physics teacher education : Going against the flow of university physics

    Författare :Johanna Larsson; John Airey; Anna Danielsson; Eva Lundqvist; Maria Vetleseter Bøe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; physics; physics teacher education; preservice teacher training; professional identity; identity performances; femininities; discourse analysis; qualitative interviews; educational relevance; gender; Physics with specialization in Physics Education; Fysik med inriktning mot fysikens didaktik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates what is involved in being recognized as a legitimate physics teacher-to-be in a Swedish physics teacher programme. Drawing on in-depth, qualitative interviews with 17 physics teacher educators and 17 trainee physics teachers, this thesis sees learning to become a physics teacher as a process of performing professional identities. 2. 2. Wings, turbulent boundary layers and flow separation

    Författare :Fermin Mallor; Philipp Schlatter; Ricardo Vinuesa; Ramis Örlü; Manuel García Villalba; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wings; turbulent boundary layers; adverse pressure gradients; flow separation; numerical simulations; wind-tunnel experiments; flow control.; Vingar; turbulenta gränsskikt; negativa tryckgradienter; avlösning; numeriska simuleringar; vindtunnel-experiment; flow control; Aerospace Engineering; Flyg- och rymdteknik; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : The present doctoral thesis investigates the turbulent flow developing around wing sections, focusing on the impact of adverse-pressure-gradient (APG) conditions on turbulent boundary layers (TBLs) and the physics of flow separation. Both experimental and numerical methods are employed to generate high-fidelity data sets and provide an in-depth analysis of the flow. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Realistic simulations of delta wing aerodynamics using novel CFD methods

    Författare :Stefan Görtz; Arthur Rizzi; Miguel Visbal; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; CFD; aerodynamics; flow physics; steady; unsteady; delta wing; vortical flow; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall goal of the research presented in this thesis is to extend the physical understanding of the unsteady external aerodynamics associated with highly maneuverable delta-wing aircraft by using and developing novel, more efficient computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools. More specific, the main purpose is to simulate and better understand the basic fluid phenomena, such as vortex breakdown, that limit the performance of delta-wing aircraft. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Properties of small Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 intrinsic Josephson junctions: confinement, flux-flow and resonant phenomena

    Författare :Sven-Olof Katterwe; Vladimir M. Krasnov; Alexey Ustinov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; high-temperature superconductivity; intrinsic Josephson junctions; tunneling; fluxons; flux-flow oscillator; THz-emission; cavity resonances; polaritons; micro nano-fabrication; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, intrinsic Josephson junctions, naturally formed in the strongly anisotropic high-temperature superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (Bi-2212), are studied experimentally. For this purpose, small mesa structures are fabricated on the surface of single crystals using micro- and nano-fabrication tools, focused ion beam is used to reduce the area of the mesa-structures down to ≈ 1 × 1 μm2. 5. 5. Local structure and composition : in additively manufactured bulk metallic glasses and composites

    Författare :Inga Katharina Goetz; Jochen M. Schneider; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Ulf Jansson; Maria Teresa Pérez Prado; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; additive manufacturing; bulk metallic glasses; nanoscale clustering; convective flow; laser nitriding; laser powder bed fusion; metallic glass - ceramic composites; oxygen impurities; mechanical properties; magnetic properties; viscosity; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing enables the production of complex multi-material geometries and bulk metallic glass parts beyond their critical casting thickness. The local modification of structure, composition, and properties is explored in this thesis with the aim to design novel composite materials and functional gradients. LÄS MER
