1. Choreographing Flow : A Study in Concrete Deposition
Sammanfattning : The traditional use of concrete in architecture is fundamentally conditioned by the inverse relationship that exists between material and formwork. When poured into a mold, a homogenous mixture takes the shape of its container. More detailed adjustment of the structure of concrete, however, is not possible. LÄS MER
2. Bio-inspired retinal optic flow perception in robotic navigation
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the bio-inspired visual perception of motion with emphasis on locomotion targeting robotic systems. By continuously registering moving visual features in the human retina, a sensation of a visual flow cue is created. An interpretation of visual flow cues forms a low-level motion perception more known as retinal optic flow. LÄS MER
3. The role of the hydrological cycle in forest ecosystems : flow path, nutrient cycling and water-carbon interaction
Sammanfattning : Forest ecosystems, covering over a third of land on the Earth, play a significant role in the global hydrological cycle, and influence soil erosion and climate change. However, the distribution, movements, quality of water, and hydrological processes in forested ecosystems are not well understood yet. LÄS MER
4. Structural Uncertainties of Rock Fractures and their Effect on Flow and Tracer Transport
5. Dynamic Matrix Algorithms and Applications in Convex and Combinatorial Optimization
Sammanfattning : Dynamic algorithms are used to efficiently maintain solutions to problems where the input undergoes some changes. This thesis studies dynamic algorithms that maintain solutions to linear algebra problems and we explore their applications and implications for dynamic graphs and optimization problems.
