  1. 6. Acoustic Forces in Cytometry and Biomedical Applications: Multidimensional Acoustophoresis

    Författare :Carl Grenvall; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustophoresis; Microfluidics; Ultrasound; Multinode; Cell Sorting; Particle Positioning; Cytometry; Lab-on-a-Chip; µTAS; Binary Separation; Acoustic Barriers; Acoustic Particle Manipulation; Acoustic Standing Waves; Blood Separation; Milk Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decades the ongoing work in the fields of Lab-on-a-Chip and Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems has led to the discovery of new or improved ways to handle and analyse small volumes of biofluids and complex biosuspensions. The benefits of working on the microscale include: miniaturization of the analysis systems with less need for large sample volumes; temporal and spatial control of suspended particle/cell positions; low volume sheath flow lamination or mixing; novel separation techniques by using forces inherent to the microscale domain; precise regulation of sample temperatures and rapid analysis with less volumes needed to be processed. 2. 7. Image-based quantitative infrared analysis and microparticle characterisation for pulp and paper applications

    Författare :Kari Hyll; Lars Mattsson; Hannes Vomhoff; Samuel Schabel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Metrology; stock; papermaking; refining; fibrillation; fines; filler; morphology; classification; flow microscopy; fibre analyser; flow cytometry; laser diffraction; dynamic image analysis; process variation; thermography; emittance; emissivity; infrared; MWIR; LWIR; goniometer; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Measurements of process variations and particle morphology are widely employed in the pulp and paper industry. Two techniques with high potential, infrared thermography and microparticle characterisation, are mainly used qualitatively. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Improvements of the Bromodeoxyuridine-DNA Flow Cytometry Method for the Study of Cell Proliferation

    Författare :Maria C Johansson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; head and neck cancer; [3H]thymidine; energy transfer; cell cycle; xenografted tumours; cultured cells; potential doubling time; labelling index; DNA synthesis time; cell proliferation; growth kinetics; Bromodeoxyuridine; DNA flow cytometry; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology;

    Sammanfattning : Potential doubling time (Tpot), DNA synthesis time (TS), and labelling index (LI) are fundamental growth kinetics parameters in clinical and experimental cancer research, which may be of further practical importance regarding prognosis and treatment prediction of cancer. They can be measured by bromodeoxyuridine(BrdUrd)/flow cytometry (FCM) methods, where BrdUrd, an analogue of thymidine, is incorporated into DNA and quantified simultaneously with the DNA content. 4. 9. Studies of the ABO and FORS Histo-Blood Group Systems: Focus on Flow Cytometric and Genetic Analysis

    Författare :Annika Hult; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Blood Group; ABO; Weak expression; FORS; Flow cytometry;

    Sammanfattning : ABO is the clinically most important blood group system and its antigens are carbohydrate moieties present on the surface of the red blood cell (RBC) but also on other tissues throughout the body. The ABO gene encodes an enzyme, a glycosyltransferase (GT),that adds a terminal monosaccharide to the precursor structure, H antigen, to define the A or B antigens. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Static and flow cytometry for tumor DNA analysis

    Författare :Olle Stål; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The analysis of cellular DNA content in human tumors has shown to be of prognostic importance. The techniques used involve measurements in slide preparations by absorption cytophotometry and static cytofluorometry as well as the analysis of cell suspensions by flow cytometry. LÄS MER
