  1. 1. Provenance, transport, and the fate of organic matter and sediments drained through Himalayan Rivers in Nepal

    Författare :Rajendra Bhandari; Joyanto Routh; Subodh Sharma; Åsa Danielsson; Rajendra Joshi; Mead Allison; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Himalayan rivers; Biomarkers; Isotopes; OC flux; RUSLE; Himalayafloder; biomarkörer; isotoper; OC flux; RUSLE;

    Sammanfattning : Despite its small area (ca. 595,000 km2), the Himalayan region transfers disproportionally high amounts of sediments and organic matter (OM) through a network of rivers into the oceanic sink. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Integrating fluvial processes into the global Si cycle

    Författare :Patrick Frings; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Silicon (Si) is ubiqutious in natural waters as dissolved silica (DSi) and is used as a nutrient by many plant and animal species. DSi ultimately derives from the weathering of silicate minerals, a process which also consumes atmospheric CO2 and couples the silicon and carbon cycles. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Staging the world. Rome and the other in the triumphal procession

    Författare :Ida Östenberg; Antikens kultur och samhällsliv; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; world mastery; kings; barbarians; conquest; aerarium; wealth; triumphator; representations; captives; spoils; enargeia; spectators; display; role-playing; processional sequence; self-definition; the other; ritual; performance; Rome; triumphal procession; oikumene.; Ancient history; Antikens och forntidens historia;

    Sammanfattning : The triumphal procession staged Roman conquest and supremacy, featuring the defeated ‘other’ as opposed to the victorious ‘self’ in a rather fixed role-playing. This thesis takes as its theoretical premise that these ritually recurrent and visually emphatic processions both conveyed and constructed Roman views of the self and the other, and that they can be studied as formative expressions of such conceptions. 4. 4. Fate of riverine iron over estuarine salinity gradients

    Författare :Simon Herzog; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; iron Fe ; Organic matter; boreal rivers; XAS; DLS; Fe isotope;

    Sammanfattning : Rivers have traditionally not been considered important sources of bioavailable iron (Fe) to the marine waters, since most Fe is lost by salinity-induced aggregation and sedimentation during estuarine mixing. However, recent studies from boreal rivers found a remarkably high Fe stability, probably due to the interaction with organic matter. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Energy-Water and Agriculture Nexus to Support the Sustainable Management of Shared Water Resources

    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; shared water management; WEF nexus; agriculture; water and energy systems; hydropower; climate change; groundwater.; Delad vattenförvaltning; WEF-nexus; jordbruk; vatten och energisystem; vattenkraft; klimatförändring; grundvatten.; إدارة المياه المشتركة ؛ الترابط بين الموارد المائية و الطاقة والغذاء؛ أنظمة الطاقة؛ الطاقة الكهرومائية؛ تغير المناخ؛ المياه الجوفية.; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Throughout history, major rivers and shared water bodies have allowed civilizations to flourish, and the effective management of shared water bodies has always been a priority for societies and nations. Today, about 40% of the world’s population lives in proximity to the 286 transboundary river and lake basins that supply 60% of the world’s freshwater flows and make up about half of the Earth’s land area.
