1. A sensory role for the cruciate ligaments : regulation of joint stability via reflexes onto the γ-muscle-spindle system
Sammanfattning : Reflex effects evoked by graded electrical stimulation of the posterior articular nerves (PAN) of the ipsi- and contralateral knee joints were investigated using both micro-electrode recordings from 7 - motoneurones and recordings from single muscle muscle spindle afferents. Spindle afferent responses were also recorded using natural stimulation of different types of receptors, to elucidate if the articular reflexes onto the y -motoneurones were potent enough to significantly alter the muscle spindle afferent activity. 2. Neuromuscular adaptations to muscle fatigue during submaximal isometric contractions in man
Sammanfattning : During a sustained contraction, the force producing capacity of a muscle gradually decreases. In order to maintain a constant force output, the neuromuscular system has to adapt to the contractile fatigue process. LÄS MER
3. Response of human skeletal muscle to chronic and acute exercise and ischemia : muscle dimensions, tissue water and blood flow as measured by magnetic resonance imaging and comparative methods
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate the response of human skeletal muscle to exercise, training and ischemi and to evaluate if magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) could be used to measure regional muscle cross-sectional area, muscle perfusion and detect muscle ischemia in patients with intermittent claudication. For this purpose studies were performed on 29 healthy young volunteers and 7 patients with intermittent claudication. LÄS MER
4. Neuronal mechanisms of feedback postural control
Sammanfattning : Different species maintain a basic body posture due to the activity of the postural control system. An efficient control of the body orientation, as well as the body configuration, is important for standing and during locomotion. LÄS MER
5. Comprehensive evaluation of spasticity and other sensorimotor dysfunctions after lesions to the central or peripheral nervous system
Sammanfattning : Background: Understanding how sensorimotor impairments may contribute to changes in body structure and function, and also to activity and participation limitations is an important challenge in neurorehabilitation research, of high clinical relevance. Available assessment methods include mainly clinical scales, often with inadequate psychometric properties, such as the Modified Ashworth scale for assessment of spasticity. LÄS MER
