    Sammanfattning : Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from human activities are driving climate change, but the pending crisis could be mitigated by a circular carbon economy where released CO2 is recycled into commodity chemicals. Autotrophic microbes can make a contribution by producing chemicals, such as biofuels, from CO2 and renewable energy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Towards Unconventional Applications of Wire Bonding

    Författare :Stephan Schröder; Frank Niklaus; Michael Mayer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Micro-electromechanical systems MEMS ; heterogeneous 3D integration; wire bonding; wire integration; transfer wafer bonding; nondispersive infrared gas sensing; low-stress packaging; shape memory alloy SMA ; infrared IR emitter; through silicon via TSV ; ethanol sensing; nitric oxide gas sensing; wafer-level; chip-level; Kanthal; nickel chromium NiCr ; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents novel heterogeneous integration approaches of wire materials to fabricated and package MEMS devices by exploring unconventional applications of wire bonding technology. Wire bonding, traditionally endemic in the realm of device packaging to establish electrical die-to-package interconnections, is an attractive back-end technology, offering promising features, such as high throughput, flexibility and placement accuracy. 4. 4. Thiol-Ene CHemistry and Dopa-Functional Materials towards Biomedical Applications

    Författare :Kristina Olofsson; Anders Hult; Michael Malkoch; Anders Daugaard; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thiol-ene chemistry; DOPA; biomedical; UV; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Thiol-ene chemistry is versatile and efficient and can be used as a powerful tool in polymer synthesis. In this thesis, the concept of thiol-ene chemistry has been central, where it has been explored as a tool for the synthesis of well-defined hydrogels and dopa-functional materials towards biomedical applications; such as hydrogels, primers for adhesive fixation of bone fractures, self-healing gels, and micelles for drug-delivery. 5. 5. Thiol-Ene/Yne Adhesives for Tissue Fixation

    Författare :Viktor Granskog; Michael Malkoch; Philip Messersmith; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The utilization of adhesives in surgery has not reached its full potential and research in the field is encouraged by the surgeons’ desire for improved alternatives to today’s tissue fixation strategies. Here, adhesive resins based on thiol-ene coupling (TEC) chemistry or thiol-yne coupling (TYC) chemistry are exploited to develop tissue adhesives that cure fast and on-demand via photoinitiation.
