1. Assembling a toolkit for computational dissection of dense protein systems
Sammanfattning : The cellular interior is a dense environment. Understanding how such an environment impacts the properties of proteins and other macromolecules, as well as how weak, non-specific interactions drive processes such as protein droplet formation through liquid-liquid phase separation, is a major challenge in biological physics. 2. The tricritical ising model in restricted domains

3. Characteristic properties of two-dimensional superconductors close to the phase transition in zero magnetic field
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis lies on the critical properties of twodimensional (2D) superconductors in zero magnetic field. Simulations based on variants of the 2D XY model are shown to give characteristic features close to the phase transition which agree qualitatively with experimental data. LÄS MER
4. Superfluid Phase Transitions in Disordered Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results from large scale Monte Carlo simulations of systems subject to a superfluid phase transition in the presence of disorder. The simulations are performed by state-of-the-art, collective Monte Carlo algorithms treating phase degrees of freedom in effective models with amplitude fluctuations integrated out. LÄS MER
5. Criticality and Frustration: Classical and Quantum Spin Models in Two Dimensions
Sammanfattning : We investigate two-dimensional spin models and begin with an introduction to critical phenomena with emphasis on classical systems with boundaries and conformal invariance. Then we introduce the antiferromagnetic quantum Heisenberg model with frustrating interactions. LÄS MER
