16. Mechanical behavior of Lithium-ion battery electrodes – experimental and statistical finite element analyses
Sammanfattning : The applications of Li-ion batteries in the electronics and vehicle industry is increasing at a very rapid pace. This is primarily due to superior properties such as high specific energy storage and power as well as wider operation temperature ranges. LÄS MER
17. Controlling the Roll Responses of Volume Carriers
Sammanfattning : Modern volume carriers such as container vessels, cruise ships and Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC’s) have become more vulnerable to critical roll responses as built in margins have been traded against increased transport efficiency. The research presented in this doctoral thesis aims at enhancing the predictability and control of these critical roll responses. LÄS MER
18. Numerical Methods for Aeroacoustic Analysis of Turbomachinery
Sammanfattning : Air transportation is today an integral part of many peoples life and it continuously grow to serve more of us in new and ingenious ways. There are however negative sides to this growth as well, such as increased noise around airports and more CO2 emissions, which must be addressed if aviation is to be part of a sustainable future. 19. Optimisation of Machining Operations by means of Finite Element Method and Tailored Experiments
Sammanfattning : The experimental approach has long been the main method to investigate the responses associated with metal cutting process such as cutting forces and temperatures and also to optimise the machining operations to accomplish higher productivity. In recent years, with advances in computing power of computers along with development of robust numerical methods such as Finite Element Method (FEM), it has been possible to simulate different machining process under operational conditions. 20. Accuracy and Convergence Studies of the Numerical Solution of Compressible Flow Problems
Sammanfattning : The numerical solution of compressible flow problems governed by the Navier-Stokes equations is considered. A finite volume method is used for the discretization in space. Different techniques to accelerate the convergence to a steady state are suggested, and the accuracy of the spatial difference operator is analyzed. LÄS MER
