  1. 1. Stochastic model updating and model selection with application to structural dynamics

    Författare :Majid Khorsand Vakilzadeh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Finite element model; Bayesian model selection; Bayesian model updating; stochastic simulation; Bootstrapping; Subspace system identification; Uncertainty quantification;

    Sammanfattning : Uncertainty induced by our incomplete state of knowledge about engineering systems and their surrounding environment give rise to challenging problems in the process of building predictive models for the system behavior. One such challenge is the model selection problem, which arises due to the existence of invariably multiple candidate models with different mathematical forms to represent the system behavior, and so there is a need to assess their plausibility based on experimental data. Författare :Joakim Wallin; Costin Pacoste; Raid Karoumi; Mario Plos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dynamics; finite element model updating; bridge; objective function; updating parameter; mode pairing; dynamik; finita element modelluppdatering; bro; målfunktion; uppdateringsparameter; matchning av moder; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : In design of bridges and for estimation of dynamic properties and load carrying capacity Finite Element Method (FEM) is often used as a tool. The physical quantities used in the Finite Element (FE) model are often connected to varying degrees of uncertainty. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Test Design for Finite Element Model Updating - Identifiable Parameters and Informative Test Data

    Författare :Andreas Linderholt; Thomas Abrahamsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; modal tests; test design; identifiability; Fisher information; optimization; data informativeness; model updating; Maskinteknik;

    Sammanfattning : It is important to predict structural phenomena, such as noise and fatigue, stemming from vibrations. To do this, reliable structural dynamic models are needed. To be useful the models have to compare well with reality in the validation against test data; if not, the models should be modified. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Improved Bridge Evaluation

    Författare :Hendrik Schlune; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; model updating; structural identification; Bridge evaluation; concrete structures; finite element analysis; finite element method; load cases;

    Sammanfattning : Accurate structural models are required for optimal management of existing bridges and economical new ones. However, unavoidable modelling uncertainties and difficulty in modelling the non-linear response of concrete bridges can lead to structural models which do not fulfil this requirement. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Dynamic characteristics of automobile exhaust system components

    Författare :Thomas Englund; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Correlation; Exhaust system; Experimental investigation; Finite element model; Flexible joint; Modal analysis; Non-linear; Simplified modelling; Structural dynamics; Updating;

    Sammanfattning : Demands on emission control, and low vibration and noise levels have made the design of automobile exhaust systems a much more complex task over the last few decades. This, combined with increasing competition in the automobile industry, has rendered physical prototype testing impractical as the main support for design decisions. LÄS MER
