1. Structural-acoustic vibrations in wooden assemblies : Experimental modal analysis and finite element modelling
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis concerns flanking transmission in light weight, wooden multi-storey buildings within the low frequency, primarily 20-120 Hz. The overall aim is to investigate how the finite element method can contribute in the design phase to evaluate different junctions regarding flanking transmission. LÄS MER
2. Modeling aspects of reliability-based design of lined rock caverns
Sammanfattning : The storage of large quantities of hydrogen gas in underground lined rock caverns (LRCs) could contribute to an efficient supply of fossil-free energy. The consequences of failure of such storage can be catastrophic, so representative predictive models and a small probability of failure are needed for the LRC design. LÄS MER
3. Development of Encapsulated UN-UO₂ Accident Tolerant Fuel
Sammanfattning : Accident tolerant fuels (ATFs) are designed to endure a severe accident in the reactor core longer than the standard UO2-Zr alloy systems used in light water reactors (LWRs). Composite fuels such as UN-UO2 are being considered as an ATF concept to address the lower oxidation resistance of the UN fuel from a safety perspective for use in LWRs, whilst improving the in-reactor behaviour of the UO2 fuel. 4. Deployment Simulations of a Composite Boom for Small Satellites
Sammanfattning : The use of small satellites is rapidly growing, especially satellites with masses between 1 and 10 kg and few litres of volume. The main reasons are due to the low development time and cost. Electronics miniaturization and high density integration is enabling the small satellites class to perform more and better tasks and at a lower cost. LÄS MER
5. Load-carrying capacity of a strengthened reinforced concrete bridge : Non-linear finite element modeling of a test to failure. Assessment of train load capacity of a two span railway trough bridge in Örnsköldsvik strengthened with bars of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers (CFRP)
Sammanfattning : To meet the future traffic demands there is a constant need of making the infrastructure moreeffective. This can be achieved by increasing the capacity and/or life length of traffic lines. LÄS MER
