1. Transport Coefficients during Drying of Solids containing Multicomponent Mixtures
Sammanfattning : This study investigated the transport coefficients involved in mass and heat transfer during the drying of a porous solid partially saturated with multicomponent mixtures. It included the coefficients governing liquid transport through the solid, the matrix of multicomponent diffusion coefficients in the liquid phase, and the effective thermal conductivity. LÄS MER
2. CALIBRATION OF CHROMATOGRAPHY MODELS
Sammanfattning : AbstractThis thesis is devoted to calibration of mathematical chromatography models. Chromatography models include unknown parameters that must be determined before the models can be applied to optimization or scale-up of a chromatography process. LÄS MER
3. Nonazeotropic mixtures as working fluids in large heat pumps - Heat transfer in a falling film evaporator and system simulations
Sammanfattning : The thesis is divided into two main parts, the first onedealing with heat transfer in the evaporator and the secondone dealing with simulations of the whole heat pump cyclewith nonazeotropic mixtures. One of the aims with the heat transfer studies was to investigate if the additional mass transfer resistance, introduced when mixtures are used, can be reduced in a thin falling film with high turbulence compared with corresponding one for a horizontal tube. 4. Turbulent flows over permissive boundaries and porous walls
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates how in wall-bounded turbulent flows changes to the wall can induce changes in the flow. To this end, we investigate the use of wall boundary conditions meant to mimic the effect of textured surfaces. LÄS MER
5. Structured zeolite adsorbents for PSA applications
Sammanfattning : Zeolites are microporous crystalline aluminosilicates with unique properties, and are therefore used in adsorption processes, for membrane separation, and as catalysts. Thin zeolite films grown on honeycomb monolith supports represent a new type of material and may be used as structured catalysts and adsorbents, and improve the processes significantly. LÄS MER
