  1. 16. Low-coordinate Organosilicon Chemistry : Fundamentals, Excursions Outside the Field, and Potential Applications

    Författare :Muhammad Rouf Alvi; Henrik Ottosson; Joji Ohshita; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organosilicon; silene; silaaromatics; silenolate; hypersilyl group; alcohol protection; molecular switch; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis reports on unsaturated silicon compounds, as well as excursions from these into germanium chemistry, single molecule electronics, and silyl protective group chemistry. Both experimental and computational investigations were performed. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Localization effects in ternary nitride semiconductors

    Författare :Vytautas Liuolia; Saulius Marcinkevicius; Toshiharu Saiki; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AlGaN; InGaN; AlInN; LEDs; near-field microscopy; carrier dynamics; alloy fluctuations; carrier localization; built-in electric field; nonpolar planes; polarized luminescence;

    Sammanfattning : InGaN based blue and near-ultraviolet light emitting diodes and laser diodes have been successfully commercialized for many applications such as general lighting, display backlighting and high density optical storage devices. Despite having a comparably high defect density, these devices are known for their efficient operation, which is attributed to localization in potential fluctuations preventing carriers from reaching the centers of nonradiative recombination. 3. 18. Physico-Chemical Properties of Plant Polysaccharides Investigated with NMR Techniques

    Författare :Åsa Östlund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR diffusometry; Dissolution of cellulose; Chemical shift imaging; Fiber hornification; Xylan; Molecular weight; Pore size distribution; Cryoporometry; Cellulose solution; 19F NMR; Gelation of cellulose; Self-diffusion; Pulsed field gradient NMR; TBAF DMSO; 1H NMR;

    Sammanfattning : In the lead of developing new biomaterials from plant sources it is of importance to be able to control and vary the properties, such as flexibility, strength, and hygroscopicity of the final material. These properties are highly directed by the interactions between constituents on a molecular level. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Altered sleep/wake patterns and circadian rhythms : laboratory and field studies of sympathoadrenomedullary and related variables

    Författare :Torbjörn Åkerstedt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Six studies on sleep/wake patterns and circadian rhythms were  carried out. In summary: (1) Adrenaline excretion, self-rated activation,  and body temperature rhythms persisted during sleep  deprivation, resisted adjustment to rotating shift work, but adjusted  rather well to permanent night work. 5. 20. Early Environment, Adolescent Alcohol Drinking and Neurobiological Responses to Drugs

    Författare :Sara Palm; Ingrid Nylander; Anne-Lie Svensson; Lundblad Martin; Giancarlo Colombo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescence; beta-endorphin; dopamine; dynorphin; endogenous opioids; enkephalin; high-speed chronoamperometry; housing conditions; maternal separation; multivariate concentric square field™ test; open field test; radioimmunoassay; voluntary alcohol intake; Wistar rats; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Genes and environment interact to determine an individual’s vulnerability or resilience to several psychiatric disorders, including alcohol use disorder (AUD). Alcohol use is often initiated during adolescence and early onset drinking is associated with increased risk for later AUD. LÄS MER
