  1. 1. Regulation of Fibroblast Activity by Keratinocytes

    Författare :Daniel Nowinski; Mikael Ivarsson; Bengt Gerdin; Elof Ph D M.D. Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; conective tissue growth factor; interleukin-1; fibroblast; keratinocyte; wound healing; burns; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : In the healing of cutaneous wounds, paracrine communication between keratinocytes and fibroblasts regulates cell differentiation, proliferation and synthesis of extracellular matrix. Deficient epidermal coverage, as seen in burn-wounds, frequently results in hypertrophic scars. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of fibroblast activity by keratinocytes, TGF-β and IL-1α : studies in two- and three dimensional in vitro models

    Författare :Anita Koskela von Sydow; Mikael Ivarsson; Torbjörn Bengtsson; Hans Törmä; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fibroblast; Keratinocyte; TGF-β; IL-1α; coculture; fibrosis CTGF CNN 2; dermal; organotypic culture;

    Sammanfattning : Dysregulated wound healing is commonly associated with excessive fibrosis. Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF/CCN2) is characteristically overexpressed in fibrotic diseases and stimulated by transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in dermal fibroblasts. Reepithelialisation and epidermal wound coverage counteract excessive scar formation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tissue remodelling in pulmonary fibrosis linked to 5-HT2 receptor activation

    Författare :Anna Löfdahl; Lungbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Serotonin 5HT ; Serotonin class 2 receptor antagonist; Fibroblast; Pulmonary fibrosis; Extracellular matrix ECM ;

    Sammanfattning : After an injury, an immediate reparative response is triggered to replace the damaged tissue, however, in fibrosis, cells remain active despite wound resolution causing a steady build-up of fibrotic tissue. In pulmonary fibrosis,there is a constant regeneration and remodelling of lung tissue where the thin architecture of alveoli become thickened, hampering efficient diffusion of oxygen, as seen in diseases like idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). 4. 4. Mesenchymal heterogeneity in the adult human lung

    Författare :Måns Kadefors; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lung; Extracellular matrix; Adventitia; Fibroblast; mesenchymal cell; Alveolar epithelial cell; Fibrosis; Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis; Mass spectrometry; RNA-sequencing;

    Sammanfattning : The human lung is a complex tissue consisting of a heterogeneous mix of different structures and cells, each which a specific role that together contribute to the primary function of the organ: the gas exchange. Different mesenchymal cells populate the interstitial areas around airways and blood vessels and form the connective tissue together with the extracellular matrix. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Gene expression in human adipose tissue. Studies of leptin and genes selected by expression profiling

    Författare :Britt Gabrielsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :obesity; subcutaneous; omental; DNA microarray; sulfonylurea receptor; fibroblast; growth factors; complement system; fibroblast;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity, and in particular the amount of visceral adipose tissue, is correlated to development of type 2diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The aim of this thesis was to study genes expressed in humanadipose tissue that could be involved in regional adipose tissue homeostasis and/or obesity-associateddisease. LÄS MER
