1. Viscoelastic haemostatic assays and fibrinogen concentration tests during haemodilution: The effects of fibrinogen and factor XIII
Sammanfattning : Background: The efficacy of concentrates of fibrinogen and factor XIII in hypothermia and haemodilution has not yet been completely investigated. Clauss methods have not previously been evaluated perioperatively. LÄS MER
2. The use of fibrinogen in cardiac surgery patients-clinical and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass impairs hemostasis due to hemodilution and consumption of platelets and coagulation factors, such as fibrinogen. The aim of this thesis was to study the role of fibrinogen in bleeding complications in cardiac surgery patients. LÄS MER
3. Fibrinogen and Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery: Clinical Studies in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients
Sammanfattning : Fibrinogen and Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery: Clinical Studies in Coronary Artery Bypass Patients Background: Cardiac surgery is accompanied by inflammatory activation and bleeding complications. Fibrinogen is a key factor in the coagulation cascade and can be used to treat ongoing bleeding, but is not well studied as prophylactic treatment to prevent bleeding in patients with normal plasma fibrinogen levels or as a predictive tool to identify patients with increased bleeding risk. LÄS MER
4. Fibrinogen, platelet and factor XIII supplementation in cardiac surgery: In vitro and in vivo studies
Sammanfattning : Background: There is a high risk of bleeding complications in cardiac surgery. Fibrinogen and platelet concentrates are often used to treat perioperative bleeding, but there is little information about its efficacy. LÄS MER
5. Streptococcus pyogenes and its interactions with the human host
Sammanfattning : We have found that a set of group A streptococcal strains, primarily associated with skin infections, express surface-associated M proteins that bind plasminogen and plasmin with high affinity. The binding is mediated by a common 13 amino acid internal repeated sequence located in the NH2-terminal surface-exposed portion of these M proteins. LÄS MER
