16. Fibre reinforced polymers in civil engineering : flexural strengthening of concrete structures with prestressed near surface mounted CFRP rods
Sammanfattning : Repair and/or upgrading of concrete structures with bonded steel or FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymers) materials or by use of external tendons have been used for some time. In most cases the bonded on FRP materials are unstressed. LÄS MER
17. Fibre suspension flocculation under simulated forming conditions
Sammanfattning : A flow loop system for study of fibre flocculation insuspensions has been developed. The system is designed tosimulate the flow conditions in a paper machine headbox. It isequipped with a radial distributor feeding a step diffuser pipepackage, after which the flow is contracted in a 2-D nozzle. LÄS MER
18. The cell wall ultrastructure of wood fibres : effects of the chemical pulp fibre line
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of the ultrastructural arrangement within wood fibres is important for understanding the mechanical properties of the fibres themselves, as well as for understanding and controlling the ultrastructural changes that occur during pulp processing. The object of this work was to explore the use of atomic force microscopy (AFM) in studies of the cell wall ultrastructure and to see how this structure is affected in the kraft pulp fibre line. 19. Testing and Evaluation of Interfibre Joint Strength under Mixed-Mode Loading
Sammanfattning : The failure properties of interfibre bonds are the key for the build-up of strength in fibrous materials such as paper and paperboard. In order to tailor the properties of such materials by chemical or mechanical treatments and to learn how such modifications influence the properties at a microscopic level, direct measurement of individual fibre--fibre crosses are typically performed. 20. Structure and Mechanical Behaviour of Wood-Fibre Composites
Sammanfattning : Wood fibres have several advantages compared to man-made synthetic fibres: they have high specific stiffness, are renewable, relatively inexpensive, available in industrial quantities and biodegradable. However, to increase and diversify their utilisation, it is necessary to increase the understanding on what controls their mechanical properties. LÄS MER
