Sammanfattning : The main objective of this PhD thesis, "An Aesthetics of Sexual Difference? On Art and Artistry in Swedish Handicraft of the 1920s and 1990s", is to investigate the field of handicraft in relation to a wider field of cultural production. Its aim is to contribute to a mapping of interrelated outlines of handicraft and art based on empirical studies of artistic creation in two local Swedish handicraft organizations during the modernism of the 1920s and the postmodernism of the 1990s. 3. Becoming Artists : Self-Portraits, Friendship Images and Studio Scenes by Nordic Women Painters in the 1880s
Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation is to analyze how Nordic women artists negotiated their professional identity in painting in the 1880s, focusing on the genres of the self-portrait, the friendship image and the studio interior. It investigates how artistic identity is fashioned through self-representation, collaboration with a colleague and in interaction with the interior of the studio as a constitutive space of artistic professionalism. 5. Det ambivalenta perspektivet : Eva Bonnier och Hanna Hirsch-Pauli i 1880-talets konstliv
Sammanfattning : This dissertation focuses on two Swedish artists, Eva Bonnier (1857-1909) and Hanna Hirsch-Pauli (1864-1940) and their relationship to the educational system, artistic trends and exhibitions of the 1880's. The aim of the thesis is to re-assess history from a feminist perspective and change the prevalent modernist art history view of the period. LÄS MER
