  1. 21. Indirect effects of moose on the birds and the bees

    Författare :Karen Marie Mathisen; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Large herbivores are important drivers of ecosystem processes, affecting plant species richness and composition, primary productivity, habitat structure as well as nutrient cycling. Large herbivore activities may therefore have important indirect effects on other plants and animals in the same ecosystem. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Essays on pig production efficiency and farmers' financial decisions under uncertainty

    Författare :Katarina Labajova; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Recent structural changes in agricultural production towards fewer, but larger, units pose challenges for farmers in decision making about practical production and about managerial practices to increase efficiency, which are vital for farm productivity and profitability. In studies using mathematical programming and econometric models, this thesis evaluated farm-specific characteristics related to the individual technical efficiency (TE) of each input and output factor and of managerial characteristics associated with persistent TE (PTE) and residual TE (RTE). 3. 23. Early obesity : family-based risk factors and treatment interventions

    Författare :Anna Ek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The high prevalence of preschool obesity is a global concern. In order to support families through obesity interventions, we need a better understanding of underlying family-based risk factors. Specifically, there is a gap in the knowledge related to challenges that families face in everyday life. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Greenhouse gas emissions from Swedish milk production : towards climate-smart milk production

    Författare :Maria Henriksson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from food production represent 19-29% of global anthropogenic GHG and the dairy sector alone is estimated to contribute around 3%. This thesis assessed GHG estimates for milk production (i.e. milk carbon footprint (CF)) in a life cycle perspective. LÄS MER
