  1. 1. Discovery of Novel Fatty Acid Dioxygenases and Cytochromes P450 : Mechanisms of Oxylipin Biosynthesis in Pathogenic Fungi

    Författare :Inga Hoffmann; Ernst H Oliw; Alan R Brash; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion protein; Linoleate diol synthase; Allene oxide synthase; Cyclooxygenase; Oxygenase; HPLC; Mass spectrometry; Hydroperoxide isomerase; Aspergillus; Fusarium oxysporum; Pharmaceutical Biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Farmaceutisk farmakologi; Pharmaceutical Pharmacology; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Dioxygenase-cytochrome P450 (DOX-CYP) fusion enzymes are present in diverse human and plant pathogenic fungi. They oxygenate fatty acids to lipid mediators which have regulatory functions in fungal development and toxin production. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cytochrome P450 Enzymes in Bile Acid Biosynthesis and Fatty Acid Metabolism : Studies on Members of the Porcine CYP4A and CYP8B Subfamilies

    Författare :Kerstin Lundell; Kjell Wikvall; Ronnie Hansson; Stefan Alexson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; cytochrome P450; bile acids; fatty acids; CYP4A; CYP8B; genome; porcine; hyocholic acid; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi; farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The present investigation is devoted to studies on porcine members of the cytochrome P450 4A (CYP4A) and CYP8B1 subfamilies, which are involved in bile acid biosynthesis and fatty acid metabolism. Hyocholic acid is considered to fulfil the requirements for trihydroxy bile acids in the domestic pig (Sus scrofa) in the absence of cholic acid. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Novel Fatty Acid Dioxygenases of Human and Plant Pathogenic Fungi : Studies by Gene Deletion and Expression

    Författare :Fredrik Jernerén; Ernst Oliw; Ivo Feussner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aspergilli; dioxygenase; oxygenase; Magnaporthe oryzae; Gaeumannomyces graminis; Lasiodiplodia theobromae; jasmonic acid; linoleate diol synthase; cyclooxygenase; prostaglandin H synthase; cytochrome P450; oxylipin; hydroperoxide isomerase; allene oxide synthase; Pharmaceutical pharmacology; Farmaceutisk farmakologi; Biochemical Pharmacology; Biokemisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : The dioxygenase-cytochrome P450 fusion proteins (DOX-CYP) comprise a heme-containing enzyme family that shares structural and catalytic properties with mammalian prostaglandin H (PGH) synthases. 7,8-Linoleate diol synthase (7,8-LDS) of Gaeumannomyces graminis was first characterized, and DOX-CYP enzymes are of mechanistic and biological interest. 4. 4. Fatty Acyl Reductases and Fatty Acyl Desaturases. Deciphering the biosynthesis of species-specific moth female sex pheromones from common fatty acids

    Författare :Åsa Hagström; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Moth; pheromone; insect; evolution; fatty acyl desaturase; fatty acyl reductase; endoplasmic reticulum; fatty acid biosynthesis; GFP; heterologous expression; phylogeny; cell factory; lepidoptera;

    Sammanfattning : Moths (Lepidoptera) are dependent on female produced pheromones, chemical signals, for attracting a mate. Pheromones are most commonly made up by saturated and/or unsaturated fatty acid derived alcohols, acetates, and/or aldehydes that are produced by a set of enzymes in the female pheromone gland. 5. 5. Fatty acid reductases (FAR): Insights into the biosynthesis of fatty alcohols in plants and bacteria

    Författare :Thuy Doan; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Primary fatty alcohols are present in all phyla, where they serve various unique biological functions, either in structural materials or biochemical compounds. Fatty alcohols and derivatives provided by living organisms are also important feedstock for the oleochemical and lubricant industries. LÄS MER
