21. Elovl3 and very long chain fatty acids; role in metabolism
Sammanfattning : Fatty acids (FA) are important in several aspects of cellular function, for example as structural molecules and metabolic substrates. The bulk of FA up to 16 carbons (palmitic acid) in length are synthesised by a cytosolic enzyme complex called fatty acid synthase (FAS), while FA can be further elongated into very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA) by membrane-bound enzymes in the endoplasmatic reticulum (ER). 22. Fatty Acid Desaturase Activities in Metabolic Syndrome and Cardiovascular Disease : Special Reference to Stearoyl-CoA-Desaturase and Biomarkers of Dietary Fat
Sammanfattning : The development of the metabolic syndrome (MetS) and cardiovascular diseases have been suggested to be influenced more by the quality than the amount of dietary fat. The FA composition of serum lipids may be used as biomarkers of dietary fat quality. LÄS MER
23. Nutrition in the second year of life. Effects of different milk compositions on dietary intakes, growth and metabolism
Sammanfattning : In the diet for young children, whole cow´s milk is the major contributor of calories, protein and saturated fat, but it supplies little iron and polyunsaturated fat. Although several recommendations exist for the composition of formula, recommendations for the composition of milk for young children are lacking. LÄS MER
24. Effects of Free Fatty Acids on Insulin and Glucagon Secretion : – with special emphasis on the role of Free fatty acid receptor 1
Sammanfattning : Prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is still rising and even so in the juvenile population. Obesity is highly associated with increased risk for developing T2DM. LÄS MER
25. Methane and Volatile Fatty Acids Production from Toxic Substrate
Sammanfattning : Challenges caused by climate change and global warming have created a demand for improvements in resource recovery and the promotion of a circular economy. Waste management is one such challenge for which more recycling options are required for producing materials and energy sources from wastes. LÄS MER
