  1. 1. Water and protein solutions studied by field-dependent magnetic relaxation

    Författare :Kristofer Modig; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; relaxation; protein solvation; protein dynamics; protein denaturation; oxytocin; magnetic relaxation dispersion; nuclear magnetic resonance; lipid-binding protein; hydration; beta-lactoglobulin; BPTI; shielding anisotropy; water; Molecular biophysics; Molekylär biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : In the work presented, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxation is used to study wide range of systems. The thesis concerns solvent interactions studied with relaxation techniques that involve measurements at many fields, which allows the separation of individual relaxation mechanisms. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Protein Dynamics Studied by NMR. Kinetics of the Adipocyte Fatty Acid-Binding Protein and Oligomerisation of the Low Molecular Weight Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase

    Författare :Tomas Åkerud; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) has been used to determine the kinetics of ligand binding to the adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP), as well as the oligomerisation and inter- and intramolecular dynamics of the low molecular weight-protein tyrosine phosphatase (LMW-PTP) in solution. NMR spectroscopy is sensitive to dynamic processes on timescales ranging from picoseconds to days. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Placental LPL and glucose metabolism in complicated pregnancies

    Författare :AnneLiese Magnusson-Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :placenta; intrauterine growth restriction; insulin dependent diabetes mellitus; lipoprotein lipase; fatty acids; fatty acid binding proteins; cytotrophoblasts;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Pregnancies complicated by intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) or diabetes are associated with alterations in both lipid and glucose metabolism, which may lead to long lasting metabolic disturbances in the fetus and susceptibility for developing metabolic syndrome in postnatal life. Glucose is the major energy source for both the fetus and placenta. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry for Determination of Noncovalent Interactions in Drug Discovery

    Författare :Kurt Benkestock; Johan Roeraade; Renato Zenobi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; electrospray ionization; drug discovery; noncovalent interaction; complexes; human serum albumin HSA ; fatty acid binding protein FABP ; ribonuclease; ligand screening; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Noncovalent interactions are involved in many biological processes in which biomolecules bind specifically and reversibly to a partner. Often, proteins do not have a biological activity without the presence of a partner, a ligand. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies on the assembly and secretion of apolipoprotein B containing lipoproteins

    Författare :Karin Lindberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :apolipoprotein B; lipoprotein; lipoprotein biosynthesis; Brefeldin A; microsomal triglyceride transfer protein; liver fatty acid binding protein;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoproteins are water-soluble particles of lipids and proteins, which deliver water-insoluble lipids from intestine or liver to target tissues where the lipids are used as fuel or storage. Lipoproteins consist of a core of hydrophobic lipids surrounded by an amphipatic monolayer of polar lipids and specific proteins, apolipoproteins. LÄS MER
