  1. 1. Deformation and Fatigue Behaviour of Aluminium Alloys for High Specific Power IC Engine Applications

    Författare :Elanghovan Natesan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cylinder head; aluminium; constitutive models; thermo-mechanical fatigue; fatigue; ageing; mechanical behaviour; A356;

    Sammanfattning : The development towards higher specific power and lower displacement engines in recent years has placed increasingly high thermal loads on the internal combustion engine materials. Further, the advent of hybrid power trains placing higher demands on quick starts and a rapid approach to maximum power necessitates the automotive industry to move towards a more robust computational thermo-mechanical fatigue life prediction methodology to develop reliable engines and reduce developmental costs. 2. 2. Fatigue strength of engineering materials : the influence of environment and porosity

    Författare :Jan Linder; Bengt Lindberg; Lennart Josefsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stainless steel; cast aluminium; hardened steels; fatigue; corrosion; crack propagation; spot weld; porosity; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was to use LEFM in order to assess the detrimental influence of surrounding chloride-containing environments for stainless steels, hardened steel as well as for a cast aluminium alloy. An additional aim was also to use LEFM to assess the influence of porosity on the fatigue properties for different commercial cast aluminium alloys and manufacturing methods. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Fatigue Assessment of Friction Stir Welded Joints in Aluminium Profiles

    Författare :Meysam Mahdavi Shahri; Rolf Sandström; Per Jahn Haagensen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Friction stir welding; Fatigue; Aluminium alloys; Critical distance; Finite element method; Standard codes;

    Sammanfattning : Friction stir welding (FSW) is a low heat input solid state welding technology. It is often used for fabrication of aluminium alloys in transportation applications including railway, shipbuilding, bridge structures and automotive components. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Fatigue Strength of Friction Stir Welded Joints in Aluminium

    Författare :Mats Ericsson; Rolf Sandström; Ole Terje Midling; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Applied Materials Technology; friction stir welding; fatigue; mechanical properties; welding speed; softening; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Solid state Friction stir welding (FSW) is of major interest in the welding of aluminium since it improves the joint properties. Many applications where Al-alloys are used are subject to varying load conditions, making fatigue failure a critical issue. LÄS MER
