11. Linking distributed hydrological processes with ecosystem vegetation dynamics and carbon cycling: Modelling studies in a subarctic catchment of northern Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Arctic and Subarctic regions are of particular importance to the global climate change and are now experiencing a climate warming that is higher than the global average. Around 50% of the global soil carbon is stored in high latitude soils, especially in permafrost and peatland soils. LÄS MER
12. On Distribution Coefficients in Aquatic Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, different types of chemical and physical distribution coefficients are identified, examined and used to describe the fate and transport pathways of substances in aquatic systems.Observations from field experiments in streams with non-reactive and reactive tracers constituted the basis for development of an advection-dispersion model. 13. Forecasting chemical exposure in a changing world
Sammanfattning : Exposure to anthropogenic chemicals in natural and built environments is a threat to humans and other species. Now and through the 21st Century, the world will experience a large number of global changes, including anthropogenic climate change, shifts in demographics, agricultural expansion, socioeconomic development, and an increasing number and volume of chemicals on the market. 14. From emission sources to human tissues: modelling the exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances
Sammanfattning : Produced since the 1950’s, per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFASs) substances are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic compounds that are ubiquitous in the environment. Being proteinophilic with a tendency to partition to protein-rich tissues, PFASs have been found in human serum worldwide and in wildlife with a predominance of long-chain perfluoroalkyl carboxilic acids (C7-C14 PFCAs) and perfluoroalkyl sulfonic acids (C6-C9 PFSAs). 15. Sources of pesticide losses to surface waters and groundwater at field and landscape scales
Sammanfattning : Pesticide residues in groundwater and surface waters may harm aquatic ecosystems and result in a deterioration of drinking water quality. EU legislation and policy emphasize risk management and risk reduction for pesticides to ensure long-term, sustainable use of water across Europe. LÄS MER
