  1. 6. On the phase behaviour of hydrogels : A theory of macroion-induced core/shell equilibrium

    Författare :Jonas Gernandt; Per Hansson; Göran Frenning; Renko de Vries; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer; polyelectrolyte; surfactant; thermodynamics; elasticity; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Colloidal macroions are known to interact very strongly with oppositely charged polyionic hydrogels. Sometimes this results in a non-uniform distribution of the macroions within the gel, a phenomenon that is not fully understood. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Molecular dynamics and aggregation behaviour in aqueous polymer-drug model systems

    Författare :Hans Evertsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmaceutical formulations often contain polymers used as binders, swelling agents, etc., to give the formulation mechanical stability or specific drug release features. Many drug substances, as well as polymers, are amphiphilic which will give an associative polymer-drug interaction, affecting the dissolution rate and drug release. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Effects of polyelectrolyte conformation, charge density and ion specificity in polyelectrolyte and polyelectrolyte-drug interaction

    Författare :Andreas M. Hugerth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The central theme is how the structural characteristics of sulphated polyelectrolytes and theirinteraction with counter- and coions determine the degree of polyelectrolyte self-association (gelformation), interaction with oppositely charged polyelectrolyte and polyelectrolyte-amphiphilic druginteraction in protolytic solvent medium. Such knowledge is essential for understanding and regulatingthe interaction between polyelectrolytes as well as between polyelectrolytes and a drug substance in apharmaceutical formulation and for its fate in the human organism. 4. 9. Electrolyte structures and ionization conditions for iontophoretic drug formulation of local anesthetics

    Författare :Kiomars Karami; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Iontophoresis is a modern method of drug delivery by which charged bioactive molecules (drugs) are transferred from an electrolytic reservoir into and through a tissue, normally skin, by means of a weak electric current. The drug is placed in a conductive medium, usually an aqueous solution or a hydrogel, between the "active" electrode and the skin. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Drug-polymer interaction in relation to surface tension and polymer properties

    Författare :Bengt Persson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Physical and Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; fysikalisk och oorganisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Polymers are important in a variety of pharmaceutical applications. Many of them are derived from cellulose but there are several biological sources of importance for their production. Polymers display a very wide diversity of properties which makes a detailed characterization necessary. LÄS MER
