  1. 1. An Infrared Study of Intermolecular Interactions in Gaseous Hydrogen Bonded Molecular Complexes

    Författare :René Wugt Larsen; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; intermolecular potential energy surface; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; synchrotron radiation; infrared absorption spectroscopy; intermolecular vibration; molecular complex; Intermolecular interactions; hydrogen bond;

    Sammanfattning : Intermolecular interactions are responsible for the deviations of gases from ideality, determine the three- dimensional structure and folding dynamics of biological molecules, and the binding of molecules to surfaces as in heterogeneous catalysis. The hydrogen bond is the most important intermolecular interaction. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the Growth and Properties of InAs/Ga1-xInxSb Superlattices and Related Materials

    Författare :Jöran H. Roslund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular-beam epitaxy; InAs Ga1-xInxSb superlattices; envelope-function calculations; lattice-mismatched semiconductors; Si-doping of Ga1-xInxSb; type-II superlattices;

    Sammanfattning : InAs/Ga1-xInxSb semiconductor superlattices and their constituent materials have been studied theoretically, grown by molecular-beam epitaxy and characterised by various techniques. InAs/Ga1-xInxSb superlattices are interesting for use in far-infrared detectors because of their narrow band gaps. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Observations with Herschel: High-mass star formation and the search for NH+

    Författare :Mitra Hajigholi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-mass star: formation - ISM: abundances - ISM: molecules;

    Sammanfattning : The capture and interpretation of the electromagnetic radiation we receive from space is essential to our understanding of the cosmos. When the Earth's opaque atmosphere prevents the far-infrared radiation to reach ground based antennas, space observatories become crucial to collect that important piece of the large puzzle that otherwise would have been lost. 4. 4. Water and hydroxyl in luminous infrared galaxies: Spectroscopic observations and modelling

    Författare :Niklas Falstad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ISM: molecules; Galaxies: individual: Zw 049.057; Line: formation; Galaxies: ISM; Submillimeter: galaxies; Infrared: galaxies;

    Sammanfattning : Many luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs) contain compact obscured nuclei (CONs) where luminosities in excess of 10^9 Lsun emerge from inside dusty regions smaller than 100 pc in diameter. Due to the obscuring material in these regions, the nature of the nuclear power source cannot be determined using direct observations in the optical or IR. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Physiological and biochemical aspects of vegetable processing. A case study on carrots

    Författare :Federico Gómez Galindo; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; mild blanching; antifreeze proteins; cell wall; cold acclimation; carrots; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the present study was to enhance our understanding of vegetables as living organisms, interacting dynamically with the environment, and to explore the possible influence of metabolic changes on subsequent processing operations. Growing conditions, harvesting and handling in the packing house and storage conditions are key events leading to a defined “physiological status” of the vegetable that is going to be consumed as a fresh product or a processed product.
