1. Haemophilia in Sweden – Studies on mutations and clinical implications
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Haemophilia A (HA) and B (HB) are two of our most common inherited bleeding disorders and are due to a variety of gene mutations. Aims: The overall objective of the present research was to perform clinical and basic scientific studies on haemophilia in Sweden to further improve and individualise the care of haemophilia patients and their relatives. 2. Gene regulation by Early B-cell Factor (EBF)
Sammanfattning : In this study we aimed at defining genes that are controlled by Early B-cell Factor (EBF), that could explain the severe block in B-cell development observed in EBF-/- mice. The fact that EBF appears to be important for the transcriptional control of genes encoding proteins in the pre-B and B-cell receptor complex implied to us that EBF could be a common regulator of other components in the pre-B and B-cell receptor. 3. Diabetes mellitus and risk of prostate cancer - A focus on shared risk factors and survivor bias
Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer (PCa) is a heterogenous disease including very aggressive lethal tumors to incidentally discovered clinically insignificant tumors. Age, ethnicity, and family history are the only established risk factors. LÄS MER
4. Organization and regulation of mitochondrial gene expression
Sammanfattning : Mitochondria possess their own genome, remnant of the ancestral eubacterial endosymbiont DNA. This mitochondrial genome encodes mostly few key subunits of the respiratory chain. In order to synthesize these few proteins, mitochondria contain a complete gene expression machinery. LÄS MER
5. Effects of PDGF-B gene inactivation in endothelial cell
Sammanfattning : Platelet-derived growth factor-B (PDGF-B) is expressed by endothelial cells, neurons, macrophages and platelets. The relative importance of these cellular PDGF-B sources in vivo has been addressed by the creation of a conditional PDGF-B allele, which in the presence of a specific recombinase can be silenced in different tissues.
