11. Anonymizing Faces without Destroying Information
Sammanfattning : Anonymization is a broad term. Meaning that personal data, or rather data that identifies a person, is redacted or obscured. In the context of video and image data, the most palpable information is the face. Faces barely change compared to other aspect of a person, such as cloths, and we as people already have a strong sense of recognizing faces. LÄS MER
12. Expression and function of GDNF family ligands and receptors in the nervous system
Sammanfattning : The search for novel neurotrophic factors promoting dopamine uptake and the survival of central dopaminergic neurons led to the discovery of a novel neurotrophic factor termed glial cell-line derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF). GDNF, neurturin (NTN), artemin (ART) and persephin (PSP) belong to the GDNF family ligands, and are potent survival-promoting factors for subsets of central and peripheral neurons. LÄS MER
13. Pain-related sodium channels in sensory neurons : gene expression during development and after injury
Sammanfattning : Pain that goes on over years as a result of nerve damage is an affliction which disables millions of people worldwide. Chronic injury-induced pain can become severely debilitating and extremely difficult to treat. LÄS MER
14. Emotion recognition and expression in autism spectrum disorder : significance, complexity, and effect of training
Sammanfattning : The overall scientific aim of this thesis is to examine emotion recognition in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), its specificity to ASD and connection to other cognitive functions, as well as to map the effects of previous and novel emotion recognition and emotion expression training programs in children with ASD across cultures. Emotion processing training in ASD is a potentially valuable tool to improve the lives and outcomes of children with ASD, but it has been lacking an adequate scientific preparation, content and motivational design, as well as high-end technical expertise. 15. Masticatory retraining effect on masseter muscle, facial morphology and alveolar bone structure in the adult rat
Sammanfattning : The aim of this series of investigations was to study the effect of masticatory muscle retraining in adult rats with an earlier reduced masticatory muscle function on the craniofacial morphology, on the internal alveolar bone structure and on the deep masseter muscle. Material and Methods: Sixty young male rats received soft diet for a prolonged period, so that the animals developed weak masticatory muscles. LÄS MER
