21. Dewatering aspects at the forming section of the paper machine : Rewetting and forming fabric structure
Sammanfattning : The underlying motives of the research undertaken here are twofold: to obtain a deeper understanding of the dewatering mechanisms at the forming section of a papermaking machine and to develop numerical models that describe the flow through forming fabrics. More comprehensive knowledge of dewatering in the forming section allows suggestions to be made for improvements that reduce the amount of energy used in the process without affecting the quality of the end product. 22. Marginal behaviour of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet during its final termination and deglaciation over Northeastern Germany
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results from studies on geomorphology, lithostratigraphy and ice flow patterns during the final termination and deglaciation of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet in NE Germany. Ice flow patterns derived from till fabrics and glaciotectonical data indicate that short-lived marginal domes had formed during the advance and the retreat of the last Scandinavian Ice Sheet in NE Germany. 23. Granular Materials for Transport Infrastructures : Mechanical performance of coarse–fine mixtures for unbound layers through DEM analysis
Sammanfattning : Granular materials are widely used as unbound layers within the infrastructure system playing a significant role on performance and maintenance. However, fields like pavement and railway engineering still heavily rely on empirically-based models owing to the complex behaviour of these materials, which partly stems from their discrete nature. 24. 3D printing of polymers onto textiles : An innovative approach to develop functional textiles
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at characterizing tridimensional (3D) printed polymers onto PET textile materials via fused deposition modeling (FDM) that uses both non-conductive and conductive polymers, optimizing their mechanical and electrical properties through statistical modeling and enhancing them with pre and post-treatments and the development of polymer blends. This research work supports the development of technical textiles through 3D printing that may have functionalities. LÄS MER
25. 3D-Weaving and Noobing: Characterization of Interlaced and Non-interlaced 3D Fabric Forming Principles
Sammanfattning : TEXTILE-based composite materials are the rapidly developing light-weight engineering materials. Fabrics constitute the reinforcement component of the composite material. The fabrics used in composites manufacture are referred to as preforms and are especially engineered as a single-fabric system to impart reliability and performance. LÄS MER
