1. Hunting Hydrogen : Structure-property relations in High Entropy Alloy-based metal hydrides
Sammanfattning : Metal hydrides have many uses when switching the energy system from fossil fuels to renewable sources, such as rechargeable batteries, hydrogen storage, hydrogen compression and thermal storage. State of the art materials for these applications such as LaNi5 and TiFe, however, suffer certain limitations such as degradation during repeated hydrogen cycling and harsh activation conditions for initial hydrogen uptake, promoting the need for novel materials. 2. Functional ability in non-ambulatory people with Duchenne muscular dystrophy or spinal muscular atrophy assessed with the EK scale
Sammanfattning : Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) are neuromuscular diseases characterised by profound global skeletal muscle weakness leading to severe physical disability. The EK scale, an instrument for assessment of functional ability in non-ambulatory people with DMD or SMA, was developed. LÄS MER
3. Electron beam melting: Impact of part surface properties on metal fatigue and bone ingrowth
Sammanfattning : AbstractThe aim of this thesis is to investigate aspects on how additive manufacturing (AM) contributes to functional bone implants with the use of the electron beam melting (EBM) technology. AM manufactures parts according to computer-aided design, and the EBM technology melts powder using an electron beam, which acts similar to a laser beam. LÄS MER
4. Comorbidity and complications in neurological diseases
Sammanfattning : Background: Neurological diseases are complex and many share etiology as well as comorbidities. Epilepsy, a brain disorder characterized by an enduring predisposition to generate epileptic seizures and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), are considered to be associated, but the connection is still not fully uncovered. 5. Holocene climate change and peatland dynamics in southern Sweden based on tree-ring analysis of subfossil wood from peat deposits
Sammanfattning : Dendrochronological analysis was applied to subfossil remains of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) buried in South Swedish peat deposits. LÄS MER
