16. Health-related Quality of Life in Head and Neck Cancer. A Five-year Prospective Multicenter Study
Sammanfattning : The aim of this prospective longitudinal multicenter study was to evaluate the health-related quality of life (HRQL) in patients with head and neck cancer at diagnosis, after one and five years in relation to tumour location, stage, sub site, treatment modality, gender and age. The first part of the study, lasting for one year, consisted of 357 patients (mean age 63 years; 72% males) that were included between 1993 and 1995. LÄS MER
17. Long Term Outcome and Prediction Models of Cognition, Activities of Daily Living and Nursing Home Placement in Alzheimer’s Disease with Cholinesterase Inhibitor Treatment
Sammanfattning : Background Prospective longitudinal studies in Alzheimer's disease (AD) that include cholinesterase inhibitor (ChEI) treatment in routine clinical settings are scarce. The patients vary in severity of the disease, clinical course, rate of progression and response to treatment. LÄS MER
18. Multicriteria optimization for managing tradeoffs in radiation therapy treatment planning
Sammanfattning : Treatment planning for radiation therapy inherently involves tradeoffs, such as between tumor control and normal tissue sparing, between time-efficiency and dose quality, and between nominal plan quality and robustness. The purpose of this thesis is to develop methods that can facilitate decision making related to such tradeoffs. LÄS MER
19. Physics-Informed Neural Networks and Machine Learning Algorithms for Sustainability Advancements in Power Systems Components
Sammanfattning : A power system consists of several critical components necessary for providing electricity from the producers to the consumers. Monitoring the lifetime of power system components becomes vital since they are subjected to electrical currents and high temperatures, which affect their ageing. LÄS MER
20. Neuropsychological Function After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
Sammanfattning : Despite considerable research efforts, the incidence and mechanisms of diffuse cognitive impairment after coronary artery bypass surgery are not fully understood. The aim of the dissertation was to describe cognitive changes after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and the predictors and consequences thereof. LÄS MER
