Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this dissertation is to analyse and identify problems arising from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency’s (SSIA) perceptions of parents, as they appear in the brochures targeted at expectant or new parents between 1974 and 2007. The aim is to distinguish who are being pointed out, constructed, and normalised as parents; and to analyse the functions of the recipients and the senders respectively. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to explore the experience of parental collaboration in preschool, by addressing preschool teachers’ competence and parental responsibility as described by preschool teachers and parents. 3. Good Parents, Better Babies : An Argument about Reproductive Technologies, Enhancement and Ethics
Sammanfattning : This study is a contribution to the bioethical debate about new and possibly emerging reproductive technologies. Its point of departure is the intuition, which many people seem to share, that using such technologies to select non-disease traits – like sex and emotional stability - in yet unborn children is morally problematic, at least more so than using the technologies to avoid giving birth to children with severe genetic diseases, or attempting to shape the non-disease traits of already existing children by environmental means, like education. 4. "Är det så här vi är" : Om utbildning som normalitet och om produktionen av studenter
Sammanfattning : Avhandlingen, baserad på intervjuer med 58 studenter vid tre olika program vid Högskolan i Halmstad, behandlar de skäl olika studentgrupper beskriver för att börja studera, deras upplevelser av mötet med högskolemiljön, och vilken betydelse de en lokal högskola kan ha. Trots olika åtgärder var den sociala snedrekryteringen till högre utbildning i stort sett oförändrad mellan 1960 och 1990. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Youth unemployment in Sweden has reached record levels during the first decade of the 21st century. In 1970, the unemployment rate for 20-24 year olds was approximately 2%. Now, forty years later, this rate has risen to 20%. Relative youth unemployment (youth unemployment in relation to unemployment for the 25-64 year olds) has also risen. LÄS MER
