  1. 1. Induction of the cytoskeletal protein radixin in the adult brain

    Författare :Åsa Persson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rostral migratory stream; stroke; Neural stem cells; microglia; ezrin radixin moesin; Olig2;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Neural stem and progenitor cells (NSPCs) proliferate throughout life in two regions of the brain, namely the subventricular zone (SVZ) of the lateral ventricles and the subgranular zone of dentate gyrus in the hippocampus. In the adult SVZ, NSPCs give rise to neuroblasts that leave the SVZ for long distance migration along the rostral migratory stream (RMS), on their way to the olfactory bulb where they mature and are integrated in the neural network. 2. 2. Cellular and Molecular Responses to Traumatic Brain Injury

    Författare :Camilla Lööv; Anna Erlandsson; M. Elly Hol; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Traumatic Brain Injury; Astrocyte; Apoptosis; Biomarkers; Ezrin; Actin; Extracellular Proteins; Degradation; Lysosome; Antigen Presentation; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a relatively unknown disease considering the tens of millions of people affected around the world each year. Many TBI patients die from their injuries and survivors often suffer from life-long disabilities. LÄS MER

  3. 3. MIR, a novel ERM-like protein in the nervous system

    Författare :Per-Anders Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; MIR; ERM; band 4.1 superfamily; MRLC; NSAP; neurite outgrowth; nervous system; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; Developmental Neurosciences; medicinsk utvecklings- och neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins of the band 4.1 superfamily are characterized by their sequence similarity to the ERM proteins ezrin, radixin and moesin, which are involved in cell motility, adhesion of cells, and signal transduction events. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Identification of SLiMs: Mapping and characterizing motif-based protein interactions

    Författare :Muhammad Ali; Ylva Ivarsson; Shoshana Wodak; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phage display; protein-protein interactions; short linear motifs; PDZ; FERM; affinity; x-ray crystallization; molecular docking; NLS;

    Sammanfattning : During the last twenty years it has become evident that about 35-40% of amino acids in the proteome are in regions that have evolved to remain unstructured. These intrinsically disordered regions contain short linear motifs (SLiMs), which serve as docking sites for protein-protein interactions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Glioneuronal tumours in childhood : Clinical picture, long-term outcome and possible new treatments

    Författare :Christoffer Ehrstedt; Gunnar Ahlsten; Bo Strömberg; Ann-Margret Rydell; Anja Smits; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioneuronal tumour; ganglioglioma; dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumour; childhood; cognition; psychosocial; HRQoL; outcome; mTOR pathway; somatostatin receptor; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Glioneuronal tumours are a subgroup of low-grade tumours of the central nervous system (CNS), often causing epilepsy. Overall survival is excellent, but data regarding long-term seizure outcome and late effects are scarce. LÄS MER
