  1. 1. The prostanoid FP receptor and uveoscleral outflow : A study of FP receptor expression and functions in the eye

    Författare :Anette Ocklind; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Prostanoid FP receptor; tissue distribution; ciliary muscle; iris sphincter muscle; extracellularmatrix; actin; prostaglandin F2a; latanoprost; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Prostaglandin F2α is a prostanoid FP receptor agonist which acts as an intraocular pressure-lowering agent by increasing the uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humour through the ciliary muscle. The aim of this, thesis was to investigate possible mechanisms of the increased uveoscleral outflow induced by prostaglandin F2α and its analogue latanoprost acid. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The impact of visually demanding near work on neck/shoulder discomfort and trapezius muscle activity : Laboratory studies

    Författare :Camilla Zetterberg; Hans O Richter; Mikael Forsman; Malin Josephson; Hanne Mari Schiøtz Thorud; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Accommodation; Asthenopia; Computer work; Eye-neck head stabilization; Muscle activity; Neck pain; Visual Attention; Visual demand; Visual ergonomics; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Musculoskeletal discomfort in the neck and shoulders is common among workers performing visually demanding near work, e.g., on a computer screen, and sustained low-level muscle activity during such work can lead to work-related pain. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of eye and neck muscle proprioception on ocular motor control in normal and strabismic subjects

    Författare :Ying Han; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :strabismus; binocular function; proprioception; eye position; muscle vibration; eye muscle; neck muscle; hand pointing; accommodative vergence movement; dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : Abundant proprioceptive information originates in eye and neck muscles but their role in normal visual function is unknown. Under experimental conditions, proprioceptive activation induces illusory visual movement, whereas clinical evidence indicates that proprioceptive dysfunction causes disturbances in spatial orientation. 4. 4. Laminins and alpha11 integrin in the human eye : importance in development and disease

    Författare :Berit Byström; Fatima Pedrosa Domellöf; Ulf Stenevi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; basement membranes; extracellular matrix; laminin; integrin; cornea; development; keratoconus; wound healing; remodeling; immunohistochemistry; Ophtalmiatrics; Oftalmiatrik;

    Sammanfattning : The extracellular matrix (ECM) offers a protective shelter for cells and provides signaling paths important for cell to cell communication. ECM consists of basement membranes (BM) and interstitial matrix. BMs provide mechanical support for parenchymal cells, influence cell proliferation, survival, migration and differentiation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Detailed analysis of slow oscillatory movements of eye position

    Författare :Bing Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Our eyes make continuous movements even when attempting to fixate a stationary object. The involuntary eye movements occurring during fixation are referred to as fixational eye movements. There is a general agreement on three types of eye movements occurring during visual fixation: tremor, drift and microsaccade. LÄS MER
