6. Visual and magnetic detection of antimicrobial resistance genes using nanoparticles and isothermal amplification
Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance is becoming an increasing concern, necessitating new ways to diagnose and treat it rapidly and accurately. One proposed solution is the use of nucleic acid amplification tests, capable of detecting resistance in just a few hours, as opposed to the several days that traditional testing methods may require. 7. Event Detection in Eye-Tracking Data for Use in Applications with Dynamic Stimuli
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis has signal processing of eye-tracking data as its main theme. An eye-tracker is a tool used for estimation of the point where one is looking. Automatic algorithms for classification of different types of eye movements, so called events, form the basis for relating the eye-tracking data to cognitive processes during, e.g. LÄS MER
8. Towards single Ce ion detection in a bulk crystal for the development of a single-ion qubit readout scheme
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis was concerned with investigating the relevant spectroscopic properties of Ce ions randomly doped in an Y2SiO5 crystal at low temperatures (around 4 K), in order to develop a technique and an experimental set-up to detect the fluorescence photons emitted by a single Ce ion. The aim of the work was to determine whether a single Ce ion (referred to as the readout ion) can be used as a local probe to sense the quantum state of a neighbouring single-ion qubit via a state-selective interaction between the readout and qubit ion. 9. Molecular detection and characterization of drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Sammanfattning : Tuberculosis (TB) is an ancient disease, but not a disease of the past. Despite the declaration of TB as a global emergency by the World Health Organization in 1993 the worldwide problem of TB has worsened. LÄS MER
10. Game-calibrated and user-tailored remote detection of emotions : A non-intrusive, multifactorial camera-based approach for detecting stress and boredom of players in games
Sammanfattning : Questionnaires and physiological measurements are the most common approach used to obtain data for emotion estimation in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI) and games research. Both approaches interfere with the natural behavior of users. LÄS MER
