  1. 1. Fatigue Assessment and Extreme Response Prediction of Ship Structures

    Författare :Wengang Mao; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fatigue assessment; extreme response; rainflow; narrow-band approximation; Laplace Moving Average model; transformed Gaussian; zero up-crossing response frequency; significant wave height; safety index; upcrossing spectrum; long term cumulative distribution function; ship routing.; transformed Gaussian;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a simplified narrow-band approximation model is proposed to estimate fatigue damage of ship structures, and an efficient method for extreme response predictions is also developed using upcrossing spectrums of ship responses. The proposed fatigue model includes two main parameters, significant stress range hs and zero upcrossing frequency fz. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Improving disaster response evaluations : Supporting advances in disaster risk management through the enhancement of response evaluation usefulness

    Författare :Ralf Josef Johanna Beerens; Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; crisis; disaster; emergency; disaster risk management DRM ; preparedness; exercise; simulation; response; performance; evaluation; usefullness; design; The Netherlands;

    Sammanfattning : Future disasters or crises are difficult to predict and therefore hard to prepare for. However, while a specific event might not have happened, it can be simulated in an exercise. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Peakflow response of stream networks : implications of physical descriptions of streams and temporal change

    Författare :Anna Åkesson; Anders Wörman; Alberto Viglione; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streamflow routing; peakflow predictions; parameterization; hydrological response; stage-dependency; flooded cross-sections; stream networks; backwater effects; temporal change; land use change; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Through distributed stream network routing, it has quantitatively been shown that the relationship between flow travel time and discharge varies strongly nonlinearly with stream stage and with catchment-specific properties.Physically derived distributions of water travel times through a stream network were successfully used to parameterise the streamflow response function of a compartmental hydrological model. 4. 4. Offshore renewable energy systems : Quantification of extreme loads using computational methods

    Författare :Eirini Katsidoniotaki; Malin Göteman; Alison Raby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; offshore systems; wave energy; CFD; extreme events; machine learning; Bayesian experimental design; active learning; surrogate modeling;

    Sammanfattning : This Ph.D. thesis investigates the dynamic response of offshore energy systems in extreme waves. The use of offshore energy technologies, such as wave energy systems and offshore wind turbines, is crucial for transitioning to clean energy and mitigating the effects of climate change. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Listeria monocytogenes is a ubiquitous foodborne Gram-positive bacterium. Despite being mainly a soil bacterium, it can reach the food processing environment and contaminate food destined for human consumption, causing outbreaks. LÄS MER
