6. Processing of TNF-receptors to soluble receptor forms in myeloid cells
Sammanfattning : TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine which binds to two cell surface receptors, TNF-R55 and TNF-R75. The receptors undergo proteolytic cleavage and release a fragment (soluble TNF-receptors or TNF-Binding Protein), TNF-R55-BP and TNF-R75-BP. Soluble TNF-receptors are able to bind and inactivate TNF. 7. Hox transcription factors in hematopoiesis
Sammanfattning : Hematopoiesis is a lifelong, dynamic process in which a small number of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) residing in the bone marrow (BM) give rise to billions of mature blood cells of both myeloid and lymphoid origin each day. This enormous capacity of HSC has been utilized in BM transplantations for 4 decades and is also very important for future gene therapy. LÄS MER
8. Maintenance and Commitment of Hematopoietic Progenitors: Role of flt3, c-kit and c-mpl
Sammanfattning : The need for red blood cells to transport oxygen and CO2, blood platelets to stop bleedings, and neutrophils, macrophages, B- and T-cells for host defense, is a prerequisite for life. These mature blood cells have a limited life span and are thus constantly replenished by an enormous cell production (estimated to 1012 cells per day) which primarily takes place in the bone marrow (BM). 9. The Role of HoxB4 in Hematopoiesis
Sammanfattning : HOXB4 is one of 39 members of the homeobox (HOX) family, a family of transcription factors involved in embryonic development. Several HOX transcription factors, including HOXB4, are highly expressed in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) but are downregulated upon differentiation towards more mature progeny cells. LÄS MER
10. Molecular regulation of hematopoietic stem cells
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are ultimately responsible for the all mature blood cell production. They can primarily be found in the bone marrow (BM) at a low frequency (~0.02%). LÄS MER
