  1. 1. On optical methods for intracerebral measurements during stereotactic and functional neurosurgery : Experimental studies

    Författare :Johan Antonsson; Karin Wårdell; Lars-Erik Augustinsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laser Doppler perfusion monitoring; Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy; Functional and stereotactic neurosurgery; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Radio frequency (RF) lesioning and deep brain stimulation (DBS) are the two prevailing surgical treatments for movement disorders within the field of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. For RF-lesioning, a small volume of brain tissue is coagulated and knowledge of the lesion size and growth is of great importance for the safety and outcome of the procedure. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Turbulence measurements in fiber suspension flows : experimental methods and results

    Författare :Monika Carina Fällman; Fritz Bark; Daniel Söderberg; Fredrik Lundell; Thomas Wikström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluid; flow; turbulent; turbulence; paper; pulp; fiber; fibre; suspension; two-phase; experimental; conductivity; micro-probes; passive scalar; ultrasonic; Doppler shift; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Turbulent mixing is present in many pulp and paper processes. It is a particularly important factor in the design and improvements of the paper machine headbox, influencing the final paper structure. LÄS MER

  3. 3. SiC-FET Gas Sensors Developed for Control of the Flue Gas Desulfurization System in Power Plants Experimental and Modeling : Experimental and Modeling

    Författare :Zhafira Darmastuti; Anita Lloyd Spetz; Lars Ojamäe; Niclas Lindqvist; Mike Andersson; Bilge Saruhan-Brings; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SiC-FET sensors; temperature cycle operation; detection mechanism studies; SO2; H2S;

    Sammanfattning : Electricity and power generation is an essential part of our life. However, powergeneration activities also create by-products (such as sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides,carbon monoxide, etc), which can be dangerous when released to the atmosphere. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mechanical behaviour of adhesive layers : experimental methods, cohesive laws, and fracture mechanics

    Författare :Anders Biel; Kristofer Gamstedt; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; experimental method; adhesive layer; cohesive law; fracture; fracture energy; energy release rate; peel; shear; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Teknik; Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Adhesive joining is today viewed as one of the key technologies to achieve decreased emissions in the automobile industry. To decrease weight, optimal material selection often results in different materials for different parts. This leads to the necessity to join mixed material. Here, the use of adhesives is the most promising joining technology. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Microstructural manipulation by laser irradiation of prepared samples : The ’Snapshot Method’

    Författare :Stephanie Robertson; Alexander F.H. Kaplan; Fredrik Sikström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Various metallurgical microstructures and their formation are studied in this thesis by using a laser beam to melt a variety of materials with different chemical compositions over a range of thermal cycles. The laser beam was used conventionally in a narrow gap multi-layer weld, used for welding large depths with filler wire additions, as well as a non-traditional simulated welding approach labelled here as the Snapshot method.
