  1. 1. Enhancement of HIV-1 DNA immunogens

    Författare :Anne Kjerrström Zuber; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1; DNA vaccination; regulatory genes; adjuvants; experimental HIV-1 model;

    Sammanfattning : Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 eludes control by the immune response through a high degree of variability and immune escape mechanisms. Induction of a broad specific immune response is important to clear virus-infected cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. From Physicochemical Features to Interdependency Networks : A Monte Carlo Approach to Modeling HIV-1 Resistome and Post-translational Modifications

    Författare :Marcin Kierczak; Jan Komorowski; Anna Tramontano; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioinformatics; HIV-1; resistome analysis; drug resistance; predicting PTMs; molecular interdependency networks; MCFS-ID; feature selection; interactome; machine-learning; rough sets; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Computer Science; datavetenskap; Biology; with specialization in structural biology; biologi; med inriktning mot strukturbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The availability of new technologies supplied life scientists with large amounts of experimental data. The data sets are large not only in terms of the number of observations, but also in terms of the number of recorded features. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies on Potency and breadth of HIV-1, HIV-2 and SIV neutralizing antibody responses

    Författare :Gülsen Özkaya Sahin; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HIV-1; HIV-2; SIV; envelope; neutralizing antibody; breadth; potency; IgG; IgA; complement; antibody-dependent complement-mediated inactivation; virus evolution; diversity; divergence;

    Sammanfattning : Even though the relative contribution of neutralizing antibodies (Nab) to prevent progression to AIDS during HIV-1 infection is still unclear, the induction of broadly NAb directed against HIV-1 through vaccination is considered to represent an important goal for the development of HIV-1 vaccines. Factors contributing to the induction of NAb may include the strength and duration of antigenic stimulation, the preservation of CD4+ T and B cells, the conformation of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein complex (Env), and the evolution of Env during infection. 4. 4. Prime-boost immunization strategies against HIV-1

    Författare :Andreas Bråve; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Since the start of the global HIV epidemic in 1981, more than twentyfive million people have succumbed to AIDS-related diseases. The epidemic is most severe in Sub-Saharan Africa, where twentyfive million people are currently infected and more than two million died during 2006. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exploring Ligand Binding in HIV-1 Protease and K+ Channels Using Computational Methods

    Författare :Fredrik Österberg; Johan Åqvist; Olle Edholm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; hERG; KcsA; AutoDock; LIE; molecular dynamics; ion channels; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding protein-ligand interactions is highly important in drug development. In the present work the objective is to comprehend the link between structure and function using molecular modelling. LÄS MER
