  1. 1. Flow, expansion and processing behaviours of gas-containing filled polyethylene

    Författare :Nabil Khoshaba; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical properties; flow rate; critical pressure; injection moulding; expansion kinetics; fillers; rheological properties; foaming; composite materials; partial pressure; capillary viscometry; Blowing agent;

    Sammanfattning : The utilization of fillers in polymeric materials has exhibited a substantial growth during the last decades. Chalk (calcium carbonate) and glass fibres are two common examples of such fillers. These fillers/reinforcing elements are used in order to reduce the cost of material and change its physical (mechanical) properties. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Role of Chlamydophila Pneumoniae in the Inflammatory Response and Expansion of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

    Författare :Lars Karlsson; Håkan Pärsson; David Bergqvist; Janet Powell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal aortic aneurysm; Chlamydophila pneumoniae; inflammation; aspirin; statin; expansion; randomised clinical trial; Vascular surgery; Kärlkirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common disease that develops gradually over several years and is characterised by weakening and dilatation of the aortic wall. AAAs also demonstrates a marked inflammatory infiltrate throughout the aortic wall. Chlamydophila pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae), is a common bacterium. LÄS MER

  3. 3. District heating in future Europe : Modelling expansion potentials and mapping heat synergy regions

    Författare :Urban Persson; Sven Werner; Lars J. Nilsson; Sweden Gothenburg Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; district heating; energy efficiency; distribution capital cost; heat demand density; plot ratio; excess heat recovery; sequential energy supply; heat utilisation rate; effective width;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a set of methodologies and approaches to investigate and determine the extent by which district heating can contribute to improved energy system efficiency and reduced carbon dioxide emissions in future Europe. The main motivation for suggesting large-scale implementation of district heating as a structural energy efficiency measure to obtain these objectives originates essentially in the predicament that a majority of European buildings today remain highly dependent on fossil fuels to provide energy needed for space heating and hot water preparation. 4. 4. Studies of alternative exchange rate systems : an intertemporal general equilibrium approach

    Författare :Torsten Persson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The four studies in this monograph analyze and compare the working of alternative exchange rate systems. Dealing with related though different problems, they all rely on a similar theoretical framework that applies intertemporal general equilibrium analysis, temporary equilibrium theory and a specific microtheory of money. 5. 5. The Microcirculation in Trauma and Sepsis

    Författare :Peter Bansch; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; microcirculation; prostacyclin; plasma vilume; trauma; sepsis; sidestream darkfield imaging; albumin; volume expansion; transcapillary escape rate; glycocalyx; charge;

    Sammanfattning : The microcirculation plays a vital part for fluid-, gas- and solute-exchange, and changes in permeability during trauma or sepsis, that are in part necessary for the natural healing process, may also cause hypovolemia and edema formation, leading to disturbances in microvascular exchange. This thesis discusses changes is microvascular flow, permeability and plasma volume (PV) loss after experimental or surgical trauma and experimental sepsis. LÄS MER
