  1. 6. Current versus alternative forest management practices in southern Sweden

    Författare :Isak Lodin; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Forest management in southern Sweden is facing numerous challenges spurring the need for change. Futures studies are instrumental for addressing such challenges. This thesis reports on futures studies investigating current practices and alternatives developed together with stakeholders. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Impacts of climate change on forest management and implications for Swedish forestry : an analysis based on growth and yield models

    Författare :Narayanan Subramanian; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : While climate change is expected to increase the growth rates of most tree species in Sweden in the future, during this period, there are also increased risks of tree damage due to various risk factors associated with climate change. Therefore, it is necessary to develop adaptive management measures in order to exploit the benefits of climate change and minimize the damage resulting from these risk factors. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Dispersal of ticks and their microorganisms by African-Western Palaearctic migratory birds

    Författare :Tove Hoffman; Björn Olsen; Åke Lundkvist; Kenneth Nilsson; Johan Normark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :African-Western Palaearctic; migratory birds; Ixodidae; Hyalomma rufipes; Ixodes; Alkhurma hemorrhagic fever virus; Anaplasma phagocytophilum; Francisella; Midichloria; Rickettsia aeschlimannii; PCR; microfluidic qPCR; metagenomics; Biologi; Biology;

    Sammanfattning : In Europe, tick-borne diseases are the most widespread and common vector-borne diseases and their geographical distribution is increasing. The dispersal of ticks depends on the movements of their vertebrate hosts. Avian hosts are more likely to be involved in long-distance range expansion of ticks due to their migration pattern. 4. 9. A song of ice and mud : Interactions of microbes with roots, fauna and carbon in warming permafrost-affected soils

    Författare :Sylvain Monteux; Ellen Dorrepaal; Frida Keuper; James T. Weedon; Joshua Schimel; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microbial communities; permafrost; functional limitations; rhizosphere; SOM decomposition; soil fauna; climate change; carbon dioxide;

    Sammanfattning : Permafrost-affected soils store a large quantity of soil organic matter (SOM) – ca. half of worldwide soil carbon – and currently undergo rapid and severe warming due to climate change. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Developing the basis of a breeding program for sustainable Rufiji tilapia aquaculture in Tanzania

    Författare :Christer Simon Nyinondi; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Tanzania has a rich natural fauna of tilapiine fish. However, a proper management of tilapia farming is lacking. Use of inappropriate technology to produce seed and inadequate extension efforts resulted in a poor production output from aquaculture. LÄS MER
